Anyone else seriously considering it (or the F3x M3)?
Not me. I have no interest in a 4 door sedan. M version or otherwise.

nope. I love and respect the s85 engine too much to jump into a f10 turbo mess.

So i will keep my m3

I understood that the M5's HP was considerably less than what it could be because BMW was using the crankshaft from the X6M/X5M which could not withstand more HP. If true, I wonder if there will be problems with tuning.

Back in 2003, I traded in my 2002 E46 M3 for an E39 M5. I kept the M5 for 3K miles and sold it. Bought another M3. The M5 is nice but the size did me in. It just wasn't as much fun to drive as the M3. The M5 was a great cruiser car but it never really put a grin on my face. The M3 was fun and always kept a smile on my face. At 4200+ pounds, the F10 M5 will be fast, but will never be as much fun as an M3. Driving a car needs to be fun. It's tough to beat the fun-factor of an M3 plus still have a trunk and room for 3 friends.

It's clearly a different tool. The E60 is a lot faster in a straight line than the E9X M, and the E9X carves it up in corners while the M5 tires howl for mercy. Nonotheless, the M5 is pretty darned respectable for it weight. The E60 is more of a luxury car than the E9X.

I picked up an E60 because my two 6-foot sons needed the space in back and I wanted an M. The F10 looks like an even better version (except of course for the V10 vs. turbo thread that's been flogged to death) performance wise, and I'm sure it will be quite comfortable.

It's just a different tool.

Oh, yeah, I picked up a loaded 2008 6MT E60 M5 with 24K miles for $52K. I plan to wait for an off lease F10 M5 and do it again.

As far as performance, for those of you that use the Nurburgring as the yardstick, the F10 M5 ran it unofficially at 7:55!
Agree with what someone said earlier, will wait to judge after I drive it...

Going from a s85 to a s63 turbo is just not doable for me. I don't care how much more faster the f10 is, it just doesn't make sense to give up the s85....unless you care about gas. But if you own a ///m car, then gas mileage should not be the number one priority. lol.

Only 4 seconds faster than the CTS-V? Was I hoping for too much?

Will definitely be on my short list as well. Cant wait to drive one. Im sure it will come with as many smiles as an M3. Those of you who are too respectful of the naturally aspirated motors to even dare think of driving a turbochargerd car. Really?

If you need the 4 doors and the room but still want to drive an M, and can afford the ticket, why wouldnt you get one???

Considering? No. day dreaming...yes. I love my M3, I can't see myself parting with it for a long time.

M5 drivers value different things than M3 drivers.
I'm prone more to go smaller and lighter for the handling.

Definitely considered it. I've always wanted an M5 (the E39 M5 is what got me into the "M" Brand).

It's a financial thing for me. Spending $100K + on a car is not feasible in the short term. I'd love to have one though.

I don't think I'd own an M5. I'd jump into a Panamera turbo or a 911. Will have to wait and see it before I make any judgments.
