I beg to differ. The M badge is less played out than the AMG badge. The non-AMG models having body parts nearly identical to AMG models don't help that either.

How many SL65 black editions or CLK63 Black editions do you see ? their bodystyling is almost entirely devoid of any references to the lower models, and the cars are just as focused on any M cars.
They are also much rarer than the M cars and most definately not "played out" To say that only the M power brand gives the feeling of exclusivity is a bit silly really. |

to me owning an M car would not bring up the feeling of exclusivity since there are so many Ms around... Now owning an F-car or Porsche GT would be a different thing though |

I 2nd this... In my neighborhood there are tons of M6s, M5s and now X6Ms going around even the new 7 series now... Always see them when I am washing my E46 M3. The neighbor we now look up to has a yellow Lambo (leased). However, there are also Porsches screaming around too... Goes to show you some of the standards of living here in California (well in some areas).

Well there is 1 thing the M cars offer that is more "focused" than the AMG cars... 3 pedals.
