Dude I have lived in FL for the past 18 tears and deal with hurricanes all the time by the time it gets to NY it will be a tropical storm so don't freak out you'll be fine just bring patio furniture in and dont park under huge brances that could come down.

LOL....I live slightly northwest of Baltimore. My baby is garage kept, so no worries here. Anyone feel the need to get to higher ground can come visit me. I have plenty of space, and a nice selection if IPAs.

I lived in Japan for 6yrs and know all about hurricanes, or typhoons as we called them. Be safe folks, shouldn't be too bad unless your on the eastern shore.

Safely in the garage, but the X3 is in the driveway. My street is lined with plenty of 50 year old oak and other trees. Really the calm before the storm here - no rain and virtually no wind. Kind of eerie.

+1. Went out in the evening today - I have never seen NYC this barren before. There were literally 3 cars on West side highway at 6 pm on a Saturday, nuts!

First time in history all forms of public transport has been shut down in nyc. I'm hoping it's not going to be that hard cause my car's just parked outside. >.<

Seeing relief here finally although it's still really windy. The train has stopped.

WE MADE IT. Strangely the wind never really came with freight train force. Never moved my porch furniture and they're in the same exact spot. Goo goo gobs of rain though. I didn't flood. Thank god.

Yeah that was pretty disappointing after all of the hype. Wind was never that bad last night/today morning. A crapload of rain, but nothing severely out of the norm.

I think once the news got a hold of the story it HAD to be the "storm of the century". They couldn't and wouldn't back away at a risk of loosing their audience. Whatever...we all lived. An earthquake and a hurricane in the span of a week. go figure.

We lived thank goodness. Some parts of the east coast were hit pretty severely. I was reading the news updates last night and 9 people had perished in Virginia. Tragic.

And as parents of a college freshman, who we just moved to NY from the Midwest in the last week, all we can do is just shake our heads

Glad this thing didn't manifest itself as badly as it could have...

Trees down everywhere. What a mess, now we are trapped here until the chain saw crews show up. Lost power last night at 3:30 AM, running on generator since then (so no biggy for us anyway). We have heard at least 2 or 3 boom type sounds which I imagine are transformers being knocked out by trees.

Lots of rain but very little damage in my neighborhood (Upper East Side, Manhattan). I was concerned about the garage flooding but it remained perfectly dry.

stupid us media! water didnt come so the presse go to it and stand in it for drama. one journalist pretending to almost get blown away then people walk by normally in the background. this is the view the german main news just gave. and i loved the comment about all the overland power lines within the neighbourhoods: "old fashioned".

a bit true.
