Trunk mounted bike rack for E92

I would like to carry one bicycle - does anyone have experience with any of the truck mounted bike racks?

Put it on the roof. Trunk mount will create dimples in the bumper skin after long periods of use. It will also mar the paint on the trunk lid where the straps hit.

is that the BMW base carrier? I ordered one but haven't seen it yet. I'll use the bike racks from the previous car. Nice picture, looks great!

Its the OEM BMW Base Support System and the mountain / touring bike tray. I assume that the case will fit on the base rails as well.

My back seats fold back, so I simply remove the front bike wheel and slip the bike into the trunk.

me too, that's why I picked the E90 with a fold-down rear seats.

Dont use a trunk rack like the person above said. There not good for your car. And putting the car in the back is good unless its a mountain bike. Your bike will get to dirty to put back there if your taking it offroad. I have a roof rack on my M3 and it works great.

Men ... I would never disfigure the sharp lines of my ///M by hanging a bike anywhere ... then that is just me.

I bought the M3 as a practical alternative to a hard edge sports car. At the end of the day-it gains more respect when its used as a car.

The roof rack is harder for me to mount the bike and dismantle it hence the trunk mounted rack. Just read a lot of reviews on the trunk mounted bike rack from Thule-not one complaint and this includes M3 owners.

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love the Thule 9003 Raceway Platform 2. I have taken the bike on road trips with no marks int he paint. It is a bit more than others at around $300 but well worth it.

I got mine from my LBS, but al also picked up my Cannondale SuperSix from them as well.

To add to this, it is very secure. Since it uses robber coated metal cables, once it is secure, it stays secure. The cables are tighten via a rotating wratcheting system which also locks. The bike holders also lock.

I chose the Allen Sport 2 trunk mounted rack. Approx $60. Super easy to fit and to mount the bike. Rubber coated hooks (I added some leather), and I put a folded microfiber cloth under the rubber feet.
No movement at all while driving.
A bonus is that it folds up into a really small package
