Took delivery yesterday

Picked mine up at South Bay yesterday afternoon. They'll get a 10/10 from me. It's so much fun to drive. I even enjoyed the time I spent in traffic on the 405!

I went with special order Titanium Silver, silver extended leather and brushed aluminum trim. I was worried that it might be too much silver, but the black dash, steering wheel, center console and roof liner break it up nicely.

Amazing technology and performance. Truly a driver's car.

Congratulations to all who have received their cars. For the rest of us Euro delivery guys, here is the response I got today from the BMW European Delivery NA

"Your vehicle did arrive on June 23rd in Port Hueneme. It is currently awaiting U.S. Customs and Department of Agriculture clearance. Our BMW port facility cannot process your vehicle until they receive the written clearance from both agencies."

They did not give me any estimate on how long it will take to clear customs.

This sucks!!!

At this rate its gonna be a few weeks till we see our cars! This wait is killing me...ED was great but im spending more on lease payments without my car than I did in Europe. Go figure.

Yes, the ED did not turn out to be as good of an option as I had initially thought. Actually it does not make sense if its just to save money. It actually could cost you the same or even more. The main reason is that most of the banks will not finance ED cars. So you are forced to go through bmw financial. I was pre approved with Bank of America for 3.2%. As soon as they found out that it is ED, they refused. Now I am paying 6% to bmw financials. And it does not help when bmw charges different rates for different cars. The M3 does not qualify for their lowest interest rate deals!

The biggest issues I see is the timing with ED. If you were the 1st batch of people who got the 2011 in April, you are stuck with BMWFS's 5.9%. In May it dropped to 3.9, June 2.9, and July 1.9%. The Lease programs also follow the same trend. So, if you got it in April @ 5.9, you may not see your car re-delivered until June/July with a 2.9 or even 1.9 that people would have gotten by taking US delivery in June/July. The interest savings probably make up to the discount you received via ED (depending on the loan amount).

Now, if you could do ED knowing you'd get 1.9 or 0.9, then it makes perfect sense to do ED to save money.

Do you know if there is a way to qualify for refinance for the lower rate now? I talked to bmwfs and they say that the lowest rate for refinance is 6%!

Unfortunately, it is not possible to refinance with these lower rates through BMWFS. Your best bet is to refinance through other banks, like penfed/BoA after you get your car.

My online tracking is also saying "At Preparation Center". Spoke to my dealer in the San Francisco and he is expecting the car to arrive here on Monday. So I should have the car by Tue or wed at the most.

Per Bimmerfest wiki:
Quote:
East coast deliveries are handled by Wallenius Wilhelmsen and can be tracked by logging on here, choosing the Auto Cargo option and finally entering your VIN (make sure all letters are in CAPS) in the Cargo ID box. Click on the Voyage ID for the port arrival/departure schedule. Ports already departed are listed in red. You can also see upcoming departures at the WW Search by Ports page

I've been there and I just get a blank screen

on my other computer I just get the home page for the company, there is no "Auto Cargo" option or anywhere to add a VIN.

Without car

I also did ED and my car was on this boat. It is still stuck in customs.

Customs took 2 days on my last ED. This is very disappointing.

Very disappointing. I never expected customs clearance would take this long. If it was a customs intensive audit then I understand, but it looks like every car is just stuck there for no reason. It's been THREE weeks + 1 day since it arrived to port. It only took 23 days to cross the oceans.

I'm in the same boat... so to speak.. waiting with everyone else... on customs...

After inquiring with my dealer several times after 2 weeks with no move, he emailed some of his contacts at the VPC, and read the reply to me over the phone a few days ago.
The guy basically said that there is a new director/manager of homeland/port security for US customs at Huneme, and that there is now another layer of red tape in some new process that they implemented. He mentioned that they haven't seen cars clear in less than 3 weeks, for almost the last month and a half.
Dealer said he was doing ED deliveries in May, 7-10 days after arriving at the port.

BS? who knows... but I thought I'd mention what I'm hearing. I'm just as frustrated as everyone else, especially when we're all likely to have to fork out for another payment (with those super sweet 6% APR's). Sigh...
