Any more datapoints? I just went to T-hill east for my first time, bypass version. Did a 2:10.08 for my best time. Car is mostly stock - just BBK with street/track pads, Dinan front sway bar, stock ZCP suspension, staggered 265/285 PSS tires. Curious what other stock-ish cars have done as a rough idea

i'm no instructor, and i'm not a pro. but this is what it is all about. work on the fundamentals and the times will follow. i had a great instructor a while back that was able to analyze some video and give me a few things to work on like braking, steering input, and a few track specific things, and the faster times followed. you can't really aim for a "faster time" in and of itself, but you can set a goal to be more disciplined with the braking and throttle smoothness.

Agreed, I just do my session then look down afterwards to see how I did roughly. Then review video to see all my opportunities to improve

Went 206.78 in late morning session today. 100% stock except 265 /18 Hankook RS4's square setup. Same track config 3 mile east bypass.

I had around 10 track days some far, 3 in the stock 2012 M3 (7 in 350z), 5 at Thunderhill. I went to the BWMCCA driving school at Thunderhill last weekend, and it was a great event, I learned a lot. I was in group C and my best lap time was around 2'19.

Please let me know what you think the lap time of stock 2012 M3 should be with intermediate level driver. So that I have a target in mind

Thanks
Francis

What are you using for lap times and data acquisition? Are you breaking things down by sector, corner, etc?

Nice! I'd love to go to East again. I bet I saw you out there - I dropped by to visit a friend running East with NCRC there. I was at West today - definitely prefer East way more

I think I'm going square as I'm destroying tires now and need to step up to something like the RS4 with more durable sidewalls. What are the full tire specs, and wheel size/offsets? Curious to find what works well. I read that 275 square is tricky to not rub

I think I prefer west, but I have only been on it once. I would not recommend the wheel/tire combo i was running, they were leftover from my 335is that I traded up (or down depending how I look at it) to the M3. Anyway the Specs were 18 x 9.5 all four corners, ET 40 w/ RS4's (3rd track day on the rubber). The offsets were way wrong, needed 12mm spacers just to keep the wheels from rubbing the struts on the front. Rear tires were tucked so bad it looked like a watermelon on a skateboard. Those wheels worked on my 335is but not so good on the M3, but it's all i had. First time on the track with the M only had it a month. My 335is would straight embarrass my M3 in a drag race but the M3 was 3 secs quicker on the track, I was stoked. I was seriously questioning why I gave up so much power from my tuned N54 to get the M3, well it was worth it!

We're you in the white m3? I was the Silverstone E92.

Yes sir - white M3 with number 111 yesterday.

Really surprised you prefer west - I feel West is more for motorcycles, tiny cars (elise/miata/S2000), or AWD (STI, Evo X) while East is more for suited for GT type cars with its wider track, clearer braking zones, and higher speeds.

You're going to love tracking your M3
