Dinan Stage 1 now differentiates between EDC and non-EDC

Hey dudes,

I don't recall this discussed here in the past, so apologies if that's not the case.

I was browsing the Dinan Web site and noticed that they now list two distinct suspension packages for their Stage 1 setup: one for EDC, and one for those without. I seem to remember that they only used to offer one Stage 1 kit (per body style), but now they make an actual distinction:

http://www.dinancars.com/store/produ...cat=787&page=1

http://www.dinancars.com/store/produ...cat=787&page=1

Different product IDs, but other than the header, the product descriptions (and the price) are exactly the same for both.

Has this always been the case? If not, do you guys have any idea what the distinction between the two actually is?

Holy..
Now stage I EDC for sedan is hitting 1200 dollars. It seems like their old price, 1k seems so cheap.
I like to know what's difference between EDC and non-EDC version.
If you call them, they can tell you what's different (They answer phone quite quickly).
I called them a while back to see what's different between coupe kit and sedan kit when they released different part# for the sedan kit).

If you find more info, please share with us.

I have the stage 1. Bought it back in December. It was $999. Mine was specific to the EDC and the spec number matches that on their website.

Has anyone installed the Sway bar and/or Camber plates? for stage 2/3?

Dinan's suspension set up is way overpriced. I considered it for a long time and would have done it, but $1000 parts, plus labor and allignment is a lot of money IMO. I'd much rather go GC at the point.

Sorry for thread jacking. Continue on...

Europeanautosource has a Front/back sway bar kit with bushings. about $500 I think I saw. would that not be better than the just a front sway bar from the Dinan stage 2? I wonder if combining the dinan stage 1 kit with F/R sway bars would be a good set up? It would be a $1500+ kit but might be worth it. Any thoughts?

The rear shock mounts are different. I think the rear shock rods are 14mm for the EDC vrs 10mm for non-EDC.

Then the spring rates are different since the EDC shocks can take a higher spring rate.

Not the rears from my understanding of the instruction sheets. I didn't see any other parts which were differentiated between edc and non-edc.

Just spoke to someone at Dinan. He said the springs are exactly the same. The only difference between the two kits are the front guide supports for EDC vs non EDC.

Also he said the bumpstop is ticker for the EDC car. Not sure how true this is because I thought Dinan used the E36 M3 bumpstop.

Anyway that's what I was told.

They want you to think the bumpstops are theirs when we all know they're just E36 bumpstops.

I don't think the front guide supports are different. Realoem shows the same part# for EDC or non-EDC. I do see a different rear shock mount.

I think the Dinan guy got it backwards.

I have seen people run springs on both edc and non edc (eibach and H&R)

but I guess Dinan did it differently?

Dinan is the only company that includes the rear shock mounts and new front guide supports.
