Dinan Mid-Pipe Questions

Well my car hit the 10,000 mile milestone today and now it might be time for it's first milestone mod. This is a two part question.....for all of you that have or had the mid-pipe, how bad is the smell? Next, for anyone in Texas.....have you passed a state inspection with it?..................Phil

I knew you would chime in........in fact I almost sent you a PM So everything I've read says the smell is the pits. As for the neighbors, my next door neighbor has a Vette that is catless and I'm sure I won't be as load as he is. Does the smell get better with time or will I just be so high on the smell and the exhaust note that it won't matter................Phil

Extra horses = Good
Sound = Really good (paired with the Dinan axle back)
Smell = Stinks.

I'd keep it but its a little too loud for me and I don't want my kids inhaling that stuff - well that and the fear of a ticket.

Thanks for posting the question Phil... confirms that I won't bother daydreaming about the X-pipe to add to my rear section.

Yeah, it smells, but so what? I notice it when I get out of the car after I pull into the garage sometimes... for about 3 seconds. I never notice it when I'm in the car, so it just isn't something I even think about. I just don't know when it would be an issue. I don't consider it to be a reason not to do it if it's something you want. I love it.

At this point you guys have convinced me that the smell isn't a deal breaker. But the state inspection issue might be. I'm not down to play switch-a-roo when it's time for a inspection.....Phil

Yeah I might have to do that ..............Phil

I *know someone* who ran catless on a sc e46 m3 with ess software in Houston and passed inspection with no issues....

Go for the midpipe, I'm sure it will sound excellent.
