In Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont the modified E9X M3 crowd is very slim. You don't see these California cars here. Mine really sticks out like a sore thumb and while I dont get bothered really its when I roll down my tinted side windows, is when folks rev and try to race me but again, its like once a month, if that. I only took the bait once on an S2000 and literally destroyed it. I not only passed him in Vtec I walked away to a point I could no longer see his front bumper. Usually its the lifted trucks here that rev on me. When my windows are up, nothing. Not a sound. Last edited by Endless619; 09-05-2013 at 03:46 PM.. |

Personally I'd buy a G37 over a regular 3 series.
I think the problem is as cars get older like the G35 and probably more so the E46 M3, they become much more affordable and its a completely different demographic driving those cars. Is this statement completely UN-PC? Of course, but I see what I see

Hahaha. That's what I was trying to get at. Almost everytime I see a G35/37 coupe with a male driver, 8 times out of 10 they either fly up on your ass or get next to you and floor it. Don't get me wrong, I kinda like the car but why act like you got something insane under your hood when you don't?

Actually the V6 in G35/350z (VQ35) are pretty decent motors.
And in its price range (50k brand new in Canada), i cant think of any other car other than STi or Evo performing as well as those (of course, we are not talking about $20k Supras with $30k mods on it). Certainly they perform much better than German cars in their price range (=328i or A4 1.8T) Regardless, I agree that lots of people in G/IS tend to believe that their cars are better than what they actually are, and tend to drive a bit too douchy. Oh well... Whatever floats their boat I guess

I truly believe that there are a large quantity of drivers out there who just don't really pay any attention.
They detect something (BMW, Lexus, Toyota, card-board box) on their left peripheral vision and so that driver speeds up. And slows down. And speeds up. It happens to you when you are overtaking a car. Especially when some idiot is going slower than normal traffic. That's really really frustrating. On more than a few occasions, I've dropped back a couple of hundred yards and observed. Those drivers do it to EVERYONE. They are frakking clueless. I coined a term for this: Speed Echo. In your situation, the clueless driver suddenly notices that a sports car is 'messing with him' as you decide to take action and get out of the situation. He probably told people that some damned person in a BMW just cut him off for no good reason. (What he didn't tell his friends what that for 90 seconds prior to this he didn't even know what US State he was driving in.) Speed echo drivers are rarely dangerous, but always a nuisance. The best course of action is to accelerate and get away from them -- or your nerves will boil. - V .

We have $8500 S2000's (2000-2003 AP1) in the US that are just as good as the 350z IMO, if not better. |

Very true, they're in every car out there. Shame too, there's some awesome cars out there with drivers that shouldn't have anything but a bus pass.

What are you talking about? I come from an American Muscle Background, used to even work for SLP when they were still in Michigan making the Pontiac Firehawk and Camaro SS. So I know the "American Performance World" as you put it. I think a lot of Americans grow up on American Muscle, whether it's classic or modern. The world of cars has changed and you gotta grow with the times. Sure there's still the Ford VS Bow Tie thing, but I think a lot of people just like cool cars no matter the make now. I even had a guy in a 2013 GT500 tell me how much he liked my car and he could mop the floor with me in a drag race. Car people like Great Cars. I'm still a big fan of American Muscle and everything that's cool when it comes to cars, all the way from the Scion FR-S all the way to the Bugatti Veyron.

I think you've found a better indicator than Italian flags to identify douchebags on the road: blacked-out tail lights.
