I get my route done waaaay faster than I can with those reindeer, who have unionized this year (Try getting them work quickly now), I have decided I like the smell of burning rubber better than reindeer dung, and Mrs. Claus put on that skimpy outfit I gave her last year as soon as the car was delivered. Dear Man with a red suit who is pleasantly overweight,

This is unacceptable and your insolence will not be tolerated. As a result, I will be sure to sleep with one eye opened, so that when you climb down my chimney on one foggy christmas eve....(without delivering my prized turbo) you will be met with an onslaught of livestock products, fruit, vegetables, anything that can be hurled at your head. I will then proceed to drop the "people's elbow" on you, I will take back the turbo that is rightfully mine, and be sure to show Mrs. C a "good time."

I am sure that is about the 20th surgeon/lawyer/judge/entrepreneur he has done the same thing with though.

Appears to be a test event.

The must have options get the price to $153k, very quickly: PDK, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Sport Chrono w/DE Mounts, Adaptive SPORT seats and Center Lock Wheels. That's about $15k in options right there and I haven't even gotten to the fluff stuff. So, a nicely equipped turbo is right about $158K.
If you're willing to wait a little bit, they lose a lot of value quickly. The prices on the 997TTs are falling rapidly.

I just got my .2 GT3, so I am not it the game; prefer the NA GT car sans PDK anyway.

As far as resale, the .2 MY2010 turbos haven't arrived in the states yet (they will very soon) so prices have not plummented either. Yes, MY2007-2009 turbos have taken a hit, but really no more than expected.

Porsche has dramactically cut the 2010 production which will keep demand higher. Some people are already complaining that they can not get a 2010 build slot. You won't see any significant price drops for another 1 1/2 to 2 years, considering that the 991/998 turbo will be about 3 - 3 1/2 years out.

And I doubt the people in line for the new TT could give a snoot about a few thousand dollars/euros etc.

They have done their waiting already.

Dear MJC

Over the last several hundred years, I have developed contingency plans for situations just like this. As a result of your entitlement mentality, I will be sending Blitzen down the chimney posterior end first after feeding him Mexican food all week and letting him drink the water. Due to the horrible stench, your open eye will begin to water profusely, at which point I will come in through the front door and your tears will freeze leaving you essentially blinded. During the commotion, I will silently slip in and leave you "Reindeer coal" in your stocking. Mrs. C just happens to be reading this over my shoulder and she asked me to tell you that you would have an awfully difficult time showing her a good time since she lives WITH the north pole. What, you didn't actually think it was a "place", did you?

Merry Christmas!!!!

^^^ very true. I know I'd have to have quite a discount to consider buying a used one that was not exactly what I would have specced anyway. Not to mention shipping, inspection costs as well as concerns about proper break in, less warranty coverage, etc... I know that I considered a MY 2007/2008 GT3, but had to find a perfect cream puff, with my options, colors AND a price at least $35-$40k less than a 2010 to make me consider it. One model year alone is worth $7-8k. When you start adding the shipping, inspection, extended warranty, tires at half life, you can add $4-5k.

Right.

If they needed a deal then the allotment of new TT's would not be full of buyers in wait. At least I think I read they are sold out. ???

And with the mark up these rascals carry I would think many long time customers are getting some sort of break from their dealer. Other than another Porsche coffee cup that is.

In a perfect world (for me)..I would have the same performance figures in the M3.. I think the interior and exterior are better than the Porker..
I think the whole 911 shape has been played out....
Now the Carrera GT on the other hand... well...

Donbona is in the UK. "Porker" is slang for Porsche over there, not a comment on a car's weight.

I was looking into the real world pricing on the new turbo. Dealerships are barely backing down off of MSRP, sometimes not at all. US allocations are cut by quite a bit. A modestly optioned turbo (PDK, sport chrono w/ overboost, etc) comes in at around $150k.

I hope the prices on these fall like they have for previous turbos. I really want one, but at $150k that's out of my league.

Speaking of falling prices, I saw a 997 GT2 for sale used that had fallen over $50k from sticker. That is epic depreciation.

I think it's in kph. Unless you were still impressed with its acceleration in kph?

Maybe in another 10 years or so the M3 will have performance like that of the 997.2 Turbo. Other than that, the M3 gets blown away in every aspect, from performance to quality/fit/finish, to feel, and design is always personal preference. and talk about a porker, your e93 weighs over 4200 lbs.
not sure why you keep compare the m3 to the turbo. they are totally different class of car and never meant to compete with each other. i see no reason for bmw to put the m3 against the turbo as they sell more m3 than the entire 911 model range combine.

for a more apple to apple comparion. for 70k, nissan gtr smash 997.1 turbo and can still hang with the 997.2 turbo on the track despite 400lb weight disadvantage and the 997.2 come 2 years later to the party. that's to me is impressive and fair comparison because nissan directly state that gtr is a turbo competitor. here is a fair third party review for proof.

what do you say about that?

If it was in kph then the run to 60 wouldn't be impressive and I'd be looking for a 0-100 (62mph) run.

It's odd how it doesn't slow down at all at higher speeds.
