Guys, help.. I test drove a Jag.

I hope this is the right section. I mean, its M3 related.

So here's the story: I dropped my M3 off for oil and "intake silencer". I never sit in the waiting room because of how bored I get, so I took a walk to the Maserati/Jaguar dealership where I got my GT. My salesman saw me and asked what I was up to, told him I was getting my BMW serviced and I was just looking at their inventory. He asked how much time I said, and I replied with 2 hours...

20 minutes later I was test driving a 2013 Jaguar XFR barreling down the road at 120MPH. Now, before the M3 my daily was a 600rwhp Camaro, and that was my benchmark for this test drive. I was impressed. It has tons and tons of torque and loves to push you back into the seat. It's EXTREMELY comfortable and I think I even prefer the interior to the M3. It's just.. a really nice package.

I'm not sure what to do. Half of me says dump the M3 and grab the Jag, the other half says I'm being stupid.

Don't do it man (yet)..too many new models coming out soon. Jag F-type coupe included, but also of course new m3/m4. May as well check them all out before deciding.

The F-type does look good, but I haven't been able to find any performance figures...

I do, however, have an idea. My Granturismo is going in for a routine service and a tune from the dealer to add a few horses and a few torques. They told me that "the cheapest rental car you will ever get is a jaguar!" I think I'm going to request the XFR as a rental car..

The Xfr is 100k if I'm not mistaken. You could get a lightly used cl63 for that money. The 2012s and newer can get 700 hp with very light mods. It also has a much nicer interior.

Well I've had my modding fun with my past cars. After that Camaro I've learned to keep modding out of my dailies. I DO like the C63, but I like the M3 more. I actually prefer the XFR's interior.. I like how the vents and shifter pop up when you turn it on and the seats are SO SO SO comfortable. The one I was in had black/red leather with piano black accents. Looked so good. I dont like how much plastic there is, but they make it look nice, so I guess it's okay. EDIT: cant forget the backup camera! Today was my first time using one of those and they're cool!

One thing I didnt check was if it had navigation or not? That's a MUST have. I'm gonig to look that up now..

The c63 and cl63 are different. One competes with a Bentley the other with a BMW. Stock the cl63 has 550hp.

Only if you look it.

It's your money.
Do what you like.

Then report back and let us all know what you did with your money.

It does irritate me how boring the colors are. Nothing bright or skittle-like in the option list. They're all very dark colors. White, silver, gray, black, dark blue, maroon, blackish green..

Jag has never really been known for reliability and it's my understanding that since Tata bought them they've become significantly worse.

Jag and M3 are totally differant cars. I think if the extra space/size suits you, go for it. I'm a fan of smaller cars, so I wouldn't even consider an XFR. M5 is also too big for me, but I'd definately make sure I drove one of those before considering another make.

Correct --> Google tells me:

"Consumer Reports just published their list of most (and least) reliable cars for the 2012 model year.

The absolute worst in reliability: The 2012 Jaguar XF
The second worst in reliability: The 2012 Jaguar XJ"

Ouch.

im sure its plenty fast but maybe consider other cars in the range. amg, other sports saloons. jags are nice but dont hold value. i also feel the xf is going to be a dated body soon. i would hold onto m3 and try out new f80 m3 when it comes out next year.
