Seriously, the straight six was without a doubt, the best straight six ever made in the world - to this day.

Yup, maybe even better than the 3.6 motor from the GT3. I was always on the fence about this one.

Imagine if the M engine had .4 more liters.

That would be the sickest engine ever made period. with revised intakes like on the csl and .4 liters, this engine would be producing like like 400hp and 300 torque.

I thought they stopped making them a few months ago when they stopped production on the Z4 M. It's still sad. That was a sweet engine. My understanding is that it could not meet the new emissions standards coming up.

I remember around the time when I got my '02 M3 how everyone was saying that the exhaust note sounded like something was wrong with the engine. However, I grew fond of the rasp -- a very unique and distinctive sound when you revved it up to near 8000 rpm. It was such a joy to take that car down a curvy back road with the windows down. I really miss it.
