e46 uses a different monitoring method, it will use a different module as well.

if you have specific questions, i might be able to help you. i have done the install of this module on my car.

i agree that the instructions werent that great. they should improve the instruction of that come with the OC3 module and give a step by step DIY or put up a video on youtube.

i cant offer step by step instructions but if you are stuck with on something and need someone to trouble shoot, i might be able to help. sorry, too lazy to do a step by step DIY.

i spent a good 2 hours doing the install of the module because i couldnt get the connections right. one good tip is that you should label each of your wires from the oem yellow connector with the pin numbers so that you dont mix them up. also on the OC3, you have to identify each of the wires and label it with the pin number so that you can identify them easier.

We normally use the sliders with inside bar (without tabs). Your local Recaro dealer should have these in stock or we can have them shipped for you.

Macht Schnell - OC3 Seat Occupancy Sensor Emulation Module

For those running race seats, the Passenger Occupancy Sensor Mat (OC3) is now an integral part of the OEM seat leather and cannot be ordered separately - triggering a “Passenger Restraint Error” message that hijacks the iDrive/OBC, rendering it useless.

Macht Schnell has come up with a solution for those running fixed-back shells and want to retain their iDrive/OBC displays with an OC3 emulatior module that easily ties into your BMWs wiring with no cutting or splicing needed and can be removed at any time. For those running race harnesses, the Macht Schnell OC3 module will properly emulate seatbelts in the fixed position - eliminating any errors caused to allow you to focus on on the track and win.

The Macht Schnell OC3 Seat Occupancy Sensor Emulation Module is possible of the following features:

- The ability to run racing seats with no system errors, allowing full integration
- Elimination of “Passenger Restraint Error” messages on both iDrive and OBC cluster displays while in use
- Proper emulation of passenger OC3 Seat Occupancy Sensor
- Optional emulation of seatbelt receptacles (fastened position for both driver & passenger) for those running race harnesses
- Allows the use of BMW Performance Seats, which are not compatible with US models
- Completely removable at any time

Note: The Macht Schnell OC3 Seat Occupancy Sensor Emulation Module will disable the passenger dash airbag to prevent unsafe deployment. For this reason, this module is not intended for street vehicles and can result in possible injury or death if proper restraint conditions are not followed. Not compatible with euro models

Models Supported:
2006+ e9x 3-series, including M3 (US models only)
2008+ 1-series (US models only)

Hey I was wondering if you can clarify a few things that I cant seem to grasp.

Why is it when you get swap out for aftermarket seats only the passenger airbags and error lights occur?
Do the drivers airbags always stay on and deploy no matter what?
Shouldnt their be an error light for driver airbag since the driver doesnt have a side/seat airbag as well?
Why is having the dash airbag on for a passenger with bucket seats so dangerous? vs Driver.

Thanks

The occupancy sensor is on the passenger side seat, whereas the airbag sensor is within the seats itself. The car automatically assumes that there is a person driving the car, which is why the error light for occupancy on the driver side does not go off. Having a dash airbag for a passenger with bucket seats is dangerous because it can deploy without being buckled in, and can cause severe damage to the passenger.

It's highly recommended. Otherwise, make sure the ignition is not turned on by accident (easy for those with CA) while the seat is removed and before coding/OC3 module installation.

If not, codes will need to be cleared.

Thanks
I will disconnect it. Once installed I plan on getting coding done to remove all the faults and stuff. I however wont be able to get it done at the same time and might have to drive for a day or two without coding. Will all my airbags work (minus the seat airbags) or are they disabled? My assumption is that the passenger dash airbag might be disabled. Any harm in running it with no coding or oc3 module besides the annoyance of codes on the dash and idrive?
Thanks

I can do coding for you. Coding will retain use of the passenger dashboard airbag, OC3 module will not.

Thanks Tom, but the only reason I am not going to you is because I am moving back to Canada and my car is already being transported. So I will have my friend up there do the coding but I was worried about airbags while the seats were installed and not coded.
So is it okay that my car is not coded? Do the airbags all work or is the occupancy sensor not functioning, thus disabling the passenger dash?
And the only thing I need to code out are the two seat airbags and the passenger occupancy sensor?

Thanks
