E90 M3 Speaker ticking noise
Hey guys,
I recently started to have some weird noises coming from the speakers in the car. I first noticed a sharp pop/bang from the speakers when I was driving to work in the morning but I didn't make much of it, thought it might have been a small glitch. After leaving work in the afternoon, I noticed that the radio/music volume started cutting in and out, fluctuating randomly. I searched around a little bit, but I couldn't find a definite answer regarding this issue. Some suggested it was the battery, so I charged it fully overnight using a trickle charger and I haven't noticed the fluctuation since. A day later, I noticed there's a strange ticking noise coming from the front speakers. The ticking noise persists whether the car is on, position 2 (accessories), position 1, or key out. Anyone got any idea what this noise might be? The car has the base audio system (not HK). I've including a video of the noise, it can best be heard around 0:08 seconds. Any help is appreciated, thank you. (Note: Can't hear the noise very good without headphones, the noise is much louder in person) https://youtu.be/w_WwgQXz3SU |

Amp is dying. It's only a matter of time.

There is no way to really test them outside of swapping it out. Just make sure you get one from another car with the same option as your car. hifi and Premium individual are not interchangeable.

I just had this fixed on my e92, dealer tried reprogramming and then swapping amps with another car with no luck. Ended up replacing the head-unit, fortunately it was all warrantied for me because the radio wat $1400.
