Evolved Tune for E92 M3

I have heard a lot about Evolved from back when they did a lot of E39 M5 and E46 M3s. I have read many positive feedback about the tunes and overall have heard (from the E39 and E46 crowd) that it is a great bang for the buck tune.

I know many of you have ESS tunes or Powerchip tunes, I was interested to see what your thoughts on Evolved was.I am still on the fence, but would like to hear from other people who might have some opinons on whether to sick with evolve or go with something else.

Thanks

Mark's got you there Sean....

For what it's worth, I like my ESS Akrapovic tune. The support from both Roman and AJ at ESS has been good too. However, it's a bit inconvenient when it comes to switching tunes. Evolve has great reviews, etc. so I would think that it's a good tune as well.

I mean, that's on the list of things I DON'T have, so never mind.

yeah trying to figure out what I want to do, I know I will be going supercharger sooner or later (probably next year) but my whole thing is being able to upgrade the tune without having to dish out another 700-1000. If that makes sense

I have the ESS Akra tune and enjoy it very much. The ability to remotely tune is big, but I believe ESS is working on a handheld but unsure and cost is always an issue. Haven't heard that much feedback on the evolve as it's pretty new for the E9x, but seems good. I guess in summation I am clueless

I'm VERY happy with the tune but even happier with the service I've gotten from them after the tune. It is quite noticeably quicker and smoother. The big selling point to me is that I can flash it back to stock before I take it in to the dealer

Its evolve not evolved. Think they are the only ones you have both tunes and can switch back to stock when you want. I'm getting this tune in the next couple weeks as soon as cable is available again.

Evolve is a great company, who we recently became a dealer for. Their knowledge and expertise is top of the line. The same great tunes people were talking about on M5board and m3forum apply to the E9X M3's too. What is a plus even more is that your from Chicago and we have the ability to flash the tunes on site. So any help or questions you have we are in the area to help. If you want stop buy and we can talk about what you would like to do.

Plus evolve has their own great customer support and Paul@evolve is a sponsor on here too.

Yeah, but it's a somewhat costly option, and I don't believe that it works for newer tunerlocked cars like mine, or else I'd have gotten it. I asked about it when purchasing but I was told that I had to ship my ECU out.

Ah well.

that's cause AJ has to unlock it himself. He doesn't just revert back to some older form of the software that wasn't unlocked. At least that's how i understand the other product works to "unlock" tuner-locked software. I could be wrong.

When i talked to AJ about this stuff this was LOOONNGGG before ESS even released most of their stuff for our cars.

Mark, would you have VS flash your car, or would you go with their handheld unit?

From our experience, Evolve's product and customer service is unparalleled. Sal@Evolve is one of the most dedicated professionals working in the tuning industry today. He often stays up until the wee hours of the morning (UK time) to tune cars here in the states.

In summation - you won't be disappointed with Evolve.

Here's the only independent dyno of an Evolve tune that I've seen so far. This was part of the recent Alekshop dyno day. I hope this helps.

Car and Modifications:
  • 2008 BMW M3
  • Primary CAT Delete
  • Turner X-Pipe
  • RPI Scoops
  • MS Filter
  • Evolve Stage-2 ECU
  • DCT
  • 91 Octane
Conditions:
  • Temparature:: 77.23 degrees F
  • Atmospheric pressure: 30.02 inHg
  • Humidity: 29%
  • SAE Correction: 0.980
  • STD Correction: 1.007
  • Uncorrected: 1.000
Results:
  • SAE Corrected: 348whp @ 8400 RPM, 258wtq @ 6990 RPM
  • STD Corrected: 357whp, 265wtq
  • Uncorrected: 355whp, 263wtq
Dyno Database:
Dyno Graphs:

Horsepower, Torque, AFR, and Spark Advance:

Horsepower and Torque are SAE Corrected using Kestel 4500 weather station. AFR and Spark Advance are collected from a Bavarian Technic tool connected to the OBD port. These values are read from the ECU and are exactly what the ECU saw.

Individual Dyno Results:
Individual dyno results are shown below. SAE corrected results are shown twice, using two different sources. The first source (SAEd) are the SAE corrected results straight from the Dynojet. The second source (SAEk) of SAE corrected results are obtained by using the Kestrel 4500 weather station data for each individual dyno run and running it through an independent SAE correction formula. This ensures that the dyno results are accurate and can be independently audited and verified for authenticity and accuracy.

The legend below has the following meaning:
  • Dyno Run: Dyno run file
  • Boost Avg: Boost calculated using trend line. This is the "official" boost for this dyno run.
  • Boost Peak: Peak boost observed on this dyno run.
  • Temp(F) = Temperature (Farenheit)
  • RelH = Relative Humidity
  • Pressure(Hg) = Barometric Pressure
  • DA(ft) = Density Altitude
  • WHP(unc) = Uncorrected wheel horsepower
  • WTQ(unc) = Uncorrected wheel torque
  • WHP(SAEd) = SAE Corrected Horsepower using Dynojet weather station.
  • WTQ(SAEd) = SAE Corrected Torque using Dynojet weather station.
  • WHP(SAEk) = SAE Corrected Horsepower using Kestrel 4500 weather station.
  • WTQ(SAEk) = SAE Corrected Torque using Kestrel 4500 weather station.
