Strange smell at WOT/4-5-6 gear, oil?
2008 e92 M3, 34k miles, 6 sp. Bone Stock.
I'm experiencing a strange smell, suspected oil burning, at WOT through 3-4-5 gear. (100+mph) During a long road trip from NJ to CT a few weeks ago, my oil level dropped a few increments after going WOT a few times. Anyone else experience this? |

Exactly, although I sure hope its not a burning wire. I guess sulfur would be a good description of it.

I only say sulfur because it's a smell you occasionally get when pulling the car hard and can be very pungent, it just means your catalytic converters are functioning properly and burning off fuel that would normally be expelled into the atmosphere. I apologize if you already know this. It is really a distinct rotten eggs smell though.
