True or false
I'm getting word that over doing launch mode four times or more will void the warranty on the clutch.
That's coming from a friend who's a BMW sale manger. It stores in there little black box. Any truth to this? Dave

My dealership said the warranty is not affected, but I was wondering if they would consider it wear and tear if the clutch pack had to be replaced, rather than a warranty issue.

Considering how finicky some BMW dealers are about repairs, I would imagine there is a point after so many launches where BMW says we won't warranty. I'm sure there is no set number though.

What I want to know is HOW to we lower the launch RPM? Ive been told to pull back or forward on the cruise control stalk, but it doesnt lower the RPMs on mine. Unless Im doing it wrong?
Does anyone know how to lower it to say 4k?

Plus on this DCT trans. How do you know when the clutch is slipping...
When starting out? Like how long it takes to grab or what .

I hear ya guys.. i was just repeating what i was told.
The thing that got me was, what happens if you buy it used with a remaining factory warranty and the previous owner used launch a lot of times, Does that mean i would have to eat the clutch if it wasn't covered because of over use. Like it was my fault.. makes no sense to me. But then i think he has no reason to lie to me.

A clutch is considered a "wear and tear" item anyway you look at it. So are brakes, so are wipers, and belts. No matter how hard the last owner used the clutch or brakes, or any wear and tear items, once you buy a used car, it is your problem.
That being said, there might be a predetermined period of time or km's that will be covered by BMW if a used car has been CPO by them. Good luck. |
