Pulleys + Intake - worth it?

Looking for input whether these bolt on mods are worth the hassel. I have low expectations for the intake in terms of performance gains but apparently it enhances the sound?

As for the pulley, thoughts? Of all mods that I'm contemplating, this one scares me the most. I don't want to have to trickle charge the car because I put a pulley on it.

Anyoen out there with a pulley on the engine with any thoughts here?

I have AA's pulley, filter along with their full catless exhaust and tune. You dont really feel any difference with just the pulley. filter makes a little difference and sounds better. Now catless exhaust reaaaally makes a difference. With these cars you gotta grab every little you can and dynos prove that the pulley along with other mods do give a few horses.

Both are good mods consider their low cost. You'll get some gains with them and the pulleys won't affect your battery. I suggest going catless or HFC primary's if you really want to get the most power from a single mod

I thought I could feel the pulley plus filter. Maybe it was in my imagination. I bought the pulley used.

Removing the primary cats is the biggest power gainer.

I have both. Sound is definitely added with the intake. Pulleys, I couldn't tell a difference.

Definitely worth it, intake/pulleys are worth ~18-20whp. Make sure you get a baseline dyno before modding so you can gauge your actual results.

We're local to you in Anaheim, feel free to give me a call when ready.

so in the last month I have done: intake (no real improvement), followed by Pulley (felt good, noticeable up top), Akra Evo (excellent improvement)..tune to follow...highly recommend pulley & Evo....no issues with battery at all.

+1! Everyone will see different gains based on their mods but I got 18whp SAE and saw gains throuhout the entire powerband from JUST adding the MS pulleys to my MS Drop-in filter and fabspeed hfc & xpipe! I can def feel the pulleys in my everyday driving!

There is a thread below this that analyzes these mods in great detail...includes data logs and dyno results

I would just put a drop in filter because of the sound. The stock intake system is perfectly designed so there won't be any noticeable power gains. I wouldn't put pulleys as well. It's not worth the risk in my opinion.

Nope..Im not a fan of aftermarket pulleys especially if they fool with the harmonic dampers..Intakes?,.mehh

Drop in filter is as far as I went...unless you are really wanting to boost the car and wring every last ounce of power ..I dont think they are worth it

FYI: There's not a S65 aftermarket pulley on the market today that affects the harmonic balancer, no need to worry.

There is also the option for Proceed and Meth that netting me GREAT power. I did that and exhaust and car feels great. Trying to get cash together to do Pulley and Intake.

would I need a tune to realize the performance of a pulley kit? Or simply adding the pulley kit yield power gains?

No tune is required, the stock ECU programming is very capable of adapting to these types of mods.

I did MS Pulleys and MS stage 2 intake. I did them both at the same time and i definitely feel it up top a litte bit on the bottom end. Honestly, the sound alone that the intake makes is worth it.

I also have Turners primary cat delete and I really think all of these mods compliment each other nicely. Its definitely worth a try.. if you don't like it, just sell it.
