"flexible" emissions guy?

Anyone know a "flexible" emissions person ?
my car failed emissions and i don't want to spend a lot on a new catalytic converter etc as come Jan 1st
my car will be 25 years old, so exempt from emissions

i just need someone to pass it for the next 4 months
i know it passed NY emissions, but if failed VA

It rocks
Still a few things I need to fix
Small things
Like brakes etc

But I already ordered discs/pads for front and rear so that should be ok

I don't live there so don't know. If I don't pass emissions I just don't get tabs. I had a mustang that was without for almost 10 yrs and just risked a ticket if pulled over.

It's not really about being pulled over; they have sniffer vans on off ramps and on ramps randomly that will catch you either way.

Which kind of defeats the purpose of even getting passed by a "flexible" guy because if the vans catch you and get your plate/look up your info, you're screwed big time.

I'd just park it for 4 months or fix it. Those sniffer tickets are like 5k I heard.

Unfortunately you can't. If going to DMW to tag and register the car they will ask to see your emissions first. If you don't have it you will either have to provide proof that you passed or if you haven't already done it go get the emissions test done.

I forgot about that! This too. You can't register the car, and as I said before even if you pass without being actually within spec the sniffer vans will screw you anyway. Which will in turn get you a super high fine, the person that passed you investigated, and just cause problems.

Just wait the 4 months

Just found out if you have passed NY emissions, you don't need to redo the emissions test in va
Unfortunately I already did the emissions test in va and failed
Maybe I should just go to the DMV and try my luck

When I bought a e39 m5, it failed emission since it couldn't be read by the machine due to a recall not being done. I went to the dmv and they just have me a tag with 1 month validity. Worst case, you would get the 1 month tag. if the ny emission was done within the year, they should give you a.free pass.

This next spring I will fail emissions on the m3 due to challenge sport exhaust. I have 21 more years until it will get by without so don't feel too bad.

To best avoid sniffer vans, try not to drive your car much.
