The driver’s seats is prematurely wearing!

I was wondering if any one is experiencing the same issue. The car is not even a year old and it only has a little over 5000 miles. I do not use any chemicals to clean the seats. I only use a damp cloth. Take a look and let me know what you think.

That happened on my A6, but my M3 still looks very good there. I make it a point to not rub that area when getting in or out of the car. You aren't going to be able to bring it back to normal now. I would recommend using a leather conditioner (I actually like the OEM BMW one). Some have used shoe polish to conceal the cracks, but that could be hard to pull off with grey....you may need to mix a black and white polish.

If you dont lift yourself out of the seat in order to avoid the bolsters upon entry and exit they will show wear very quickly. Its super common.

That's one of the main reasons why I prefer black leather.

Levering yourself in and out of the car is great advice, but the main reason your seat looks like that is lack of conditioning man. You need to keep your seats conditioned to avoid premature wear. Along with not rubbing them, too .

Oh no...my new car is coming next month and ive ordered grey leather. Now i know to take extra care and make sure i condition it well..

Btw...would this not be covered under warranty? as its rubbed of quick? my 335i had the stitching slightly loose and they replaced the chair..

Angry Dude I have the same exact problem, I feel your pain.

My driver seat is doing the same thing but I think mine is a little worse I only been driving my car for about 4 months before I deployed to Iraq. I am going to have my M3 taken to the stealer ship and see what they say. it will be sometime next week when I have my car taken to the stealer ship since I am still deployed. If all else fail I will have to result to something like this

http://www.wetokole.com/bmw_m3_front.html

I know taking care of the leather and trying to be careful getting in and out of the car is important, but sometimes you are going to forget and before you know it will be torn. I hate to go the seat cover route

damp rag? try some leather conditioner to keep that leather moist. water on leather = not the best way to take care of it as you can see.

Whaaaaattttttttttt. That is nuts, its either really soft leather or you need fabric softener for your shirts.

I have leather milk for my steering wheel and it loosens up the grain a little bit, give that a try.

It looks dry and its cracking. Skin oils can do this. Use a nice leather cleaning kit, it will freshen it up a bit.

I beg to differ! I have seen far worse than this. As long as the leather is not torn you can dye and revive some pretty bad leather.

Cool result but would be even better for comparisson purposes to see the same seat before and after (not drivers seat "before" which is used more and passenger's seat "after").

BTW, how the hell did the driver's seat end up like that? How many miles/km is there in the odo?
