i thought about doing a long exposure, but I only stopped for a few shots and continued on my way to see family. I didn't bring my tripod either, which i realized as i was standing there. But i was happy for the opportunity to try out my new wide angle. The windmill was probably about 100' away from me, so it's neat to be able to get something that tall in 1 photo with a wide angle that close. I am however regretting my choice of wide angle. I went for the L series with the F4 and not the F2.8 so when i was following my nephew around on the weekend, I pretty much had to throw out half the shots i took because of slow shutter speeds, and i really didn't want to go any higher then a 1600ISO |

Excuse the crappy quality here. Had to shoot from well inside the house to avoid spooking the birds. Here's the "winter baseball" game going on in the backyard. Cards 20 - Blue Jays 4.

I'm always amazed at how many Cardinals hang out here. Had to change the score, though. There are four Blue Jays in the pics. The Jay still are top of the order. They get what they want. Until the cats climb the tree.

that's actually the walls of the canyon looking upwards towards sky, which you can't see soemtimes.
it's sandstone, so it basically feels like sandpaper. very cool experience being down there, was really upset with myself for leaving my tripod behind, it got a bit dark to shoot sometimes. |

from my old SX10IS way back in the day.
can definitely tell the clarity difference between the 2 cameras, and the other picture above is from a T1i that i wasn't happy with. Last edited by The1; 05-05-2011 at 09:56 PM.. |

I think I finally have everything I generally would use...the 14 and 50 are my favorites lately if you were in the chitown area you could try any of it out no problems

most of the cameras people are using for these shots (and other equipment) cost more then the average yearly income in some 3rd world countries.... Below poverty in Barbados is considered less then 2000$ per year. does that make anyone here feel a bit guilty? |

Someone had a really bad day.
Nasty house fire near us this evening. Temps are around 0F, so fighting this must have really sucked. I know the neighborhood where this was. All very nice homes. I haven't read or heard any news about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the result of a chimney fire.
LATE EDIT: It was not a house. It was a pole barn. Just an RV, a Mustang, and some equipment lost. No injuries.
