No Space Grey for now?

While speccing my M3 order, the dealer informed me that Space Grey was not listed as one of the optional colors. I would expect it to be released at some point, but has anyone else heard of this?

If I can't get Space, I think I'm going with white; possibly silver, but I swore I wouldn't get another silver car!

That's odd. SG and Fox Red is what I ordered and it WAS a color on the spec sheet.

I can't imagine Space Gray would not be available just in the US. There are dozens of overseas examples around. Must be a miscommunication.

Show him this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89516 . Our friend Pancho in Mexico just received one: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97237.

space grey is a color available...just not an optional m specific color as it is available on the 335.

I know it's available on the 3 series because my 335xi coupe in Space Grey is coming in tomorrow. However, I looked at the computer screen while my rep. showed me all of the colors. SG was not there as an option.

Likely an early ordering system software glitch.

my $tealer said the ordering system doesn't allow Space Gray on the sedan, but it's an option on the coupe. So I have to change my "order" to silversone (too light)or sparkling graphite (too dark)

That was my dilema. But fortunately Space Grey is available for the Coupe, that is why I will opt for it.

Don't know why the sedan would be different. Go Alpine!

If i get the coupe, the 31 seconds I gain in the 1.2 mile trip to the bus stop with the kids in the morning will be reduced to 3 seconds after I get out of the car, flip the seat forward, and let the kids out. $70K for 3 seconds/day hardly seems like a bargin. With 4 doors, it's a no brainer. So sparkling graphite will have to do.

Exactly my thoughts and why I am pretty keen on Space Grey myself. Just the right balance of light/dark and with the metallic it really pops. I have wanted a silver car since before my current red E36 M3 and also wanted silver for my E46 M3. I liked the red quite well when I first got the E36 but the E46 was always just a purchase of opportunity, not a choice on the color. Was never that fond of that red on that car... I digress... Space Grey FTW!

My dealer didn't have the SG for the coupe. Hopefully, it's a temporary glitch. I like the idea of white, but I don't know that I will have enough follow through to stick with it.

BTW, not to be OT, but I have to say how impressed I am with the 328xi coupe. My girlfriend got hers yersterday. (Of course, it doesn't have the power that we like, but, very impressive nonetheless.). It's nice to be back in a Bimmer. Can't wait for the 335 and M!

Well Greg, its not available on the 3 series sedan, so maybe that's why?

I hadn't even thought about this before, but if Space Gray really is available on the E90 M3, then that makes it an M3 exclusive for the E90. If its not available as the guy claims, then I wonder if BMW will add another color for the E90 M3 (such as Sparkling Graphite)? Or will it just have one fewer available colors than the coupe?

Space Grey looks great with the (anthracite?) paint on the 19" wheels. Not for me though, as I don't like metallics. Of the available colors thus far, Alpine White is really starting to grow on me. This began with seeing a few too many white GT3s in recent months. I would really like a bright red, non-metallic to become available (current Z4 color), but if that doesn't happen in a year or two I will probably go with Alpine.

1.2 miles? Would walking be so difficult? Besides, short journeys from cold is THE worst thing for your engine.

The order guide posted (which may or may not be final) indicates that Space Grey is not available for the Sedan.

Hmmm...right you are. Only 5 choices instead of 6. Hopefully that's not final.

Thanks. I didn't even realize that the two seperate order guides had been posted (both sedan and coupe). I also forgot Sparkling Graphite was already an available color. BMW should add another color for the sedan. Maybe Barbera - I think that would look great on an M3 (subtle, but still very unique).

So, one of the nicest colors is not offered on the sedan. Great. There's always the RS4 or C63 - their greys are pretty nice.

Their grays will probably be similar to SSII without the blue hue. Don't see too many darker gray colors like space gray and sparkling graphite.
