I want a sticktromatic transmission. It drives like an automatic, but the stick is there next to you and you can see it shifting through the gears. It's like a player piano where you see the keys moving but no one is sitting at it.

Ive been driving manuals since my first two rsx-s and my 335i. I recently traded in my 335 for a M3 with DCT only after driving both cars! I honestly do miss that extra engagement in the car with the clutch of course BUT this is only at rare times because manual drivers never completely let go of that feeling it stays in the blood... BUT I feel the DCT on the M3 is much more solid and feels like the car was made for it...if I may more "in sync" but this is just my opinion. I get the biggest smile on my face in S5 mode MDM and damn when you turn off dsc and traction s6 comes up.... talk about serious shifts that slap your head to back of the seat.... I LOVE my DCT and I love manual but I have not had a day yet where Ive regretted my decision so my recommendation GO DRIVE BOTH OF THEM, THEN DECIDE Im 25 and come on this is not rocket science.

More of a realistic comparison is Superman VS Thor. Thor being 6 speed and Superman being Automatic. Just don't get Superman off a planet he is adjusted too or as we see in the movie he gets sick and weak. lol

Coming from a DCT owner, go for the 6 speed. DCT might be awesome at the track (that I can't comment on as I don't have any track experience), but it does not fulfill/complete the S62 imo.
Depends on how good the new M4 will be, I might consider trading my 08 DCT for a 6 speed in the near future. |

That much better in the rain than anyone else with no help from the car. Even leh keens car in that raindance has traction control (although very limited). |

You'll need to test drive both.
I test drove one with the DCT, and loved how it banged off shifts at lightening speed. This works very well with the high rpm, somewhat peaky powercurve of this engine. But, the transmission choice does NOT make this car. |
