I got some good news today, at least for the moment. Last week I was pushed from week 10 to week 15 production b/c of 19's/DCT but I just got off the phone with BMW NA and have been put back at an estimated Week 10 production. I'm not gonna do any just yet as BMW always finds a way to let me down. BMW NA said that by the end of this week if everything stays on track, I should get status 112 with the confirmed Week 10 production. I'm crossing my fingers!

I dont think the info coming from BMW NA customer service is very up to date. My car in their system still says week 10, however the dealer has already told me at the end of last week its now mid April due to the wheel and m-dct gearbox delays.

I totally agree with "itown" on his comment, that's exactly what I was thinking as I was going through this thread. As much as I love BMW products, but my experience with the '04 545 vs '05 545 was night and day. The '04 was full of bugs some of which they could never fix. The '05 has been running flawlessly since Feb, 05 with almost 30,000 mi.

I guess with these problems is either a hit or miss, not every car will have problems and bugs, however there will always be cars that will come with them. Im crossing my fingers that i wont be one of them.

All this news is so unsettling. My dealer moved me from week 10 now to mid April production w/ May delivery. Problems were blamed solely on 19" wheel shortage. Have these guys ever launched a car before? Holy crap.
Anyone think calling BMW NA and screaming can change things? May delivery really sucks BIG!

I know this sucks for people who have orderd the DCT already. But why is everyone suprised. This is a quote from the original dealer memo.
"The M DKG Drivelogic transmission will be an available option on the M3 Coupe and Sedan with a retail price of $2,700. The 6-speed manual transmission will continue to be standard on the M3 Coupe and Sedan. l.irnitd Marnh tO Miy prnd”ntinn nf thp M IDKC flrivlnoin trancmiccinh will hp availahiA in thA MS cohipA nniy Production of the transmission for the M3 Sedan will start in June. There are no production limitations expected for the second half of 2008." That was supposed to say that the first half of 2008 there will be LIMITED PRODUCTION on M3 Coupe DCT's. |

My CA took my order today. It won't go into the system for a few days/week but he told me that there shouldn't be any issue with 19" wheels or M-DCT as long as the order is a coupe. Apparently this is an issue for the sedan - given prior statements about the availability of M-DCT on the sedan, I'm assuming that this is what he meant.
