If anyone has the ability to track down the info, I'd also like to know the 6MT/DCT numbers, and also how many of each body style were sold in the U.S. (or North America).

Would be cool to know that mine's one of 2500 in the States!
Nice to know what those numbers might be indeed, it would even be nicer if they can break it down by different parts of the world. I guess the cars sold in Canada will always be part of the the American number count.

Petty that is ... oh well we just have to use the old assume routine like say 15% to 18% Canadian Eh of that American number count.

I'm also delighted to have mine in my Garage ... Sold my BENZ C350 4MATIC today after long discussion with the wife ... time to move the BENZ into the "Cars of the Past Garage" and I let that one go into the sunset gladly

My e92 and my new found friend the 1962 Pagoda 280 SL will be with me to the end. Time to celebrate ... oh yes!

My thoughts exactly.

I went from an E92 M3 to an E46 M3 and miss the high-revving V8 and luxury interior. I expect the next version to be even more mature/refined. May order one.

A lot of people were asking for the DCT/6spd breakdown, so here it is. E93 LCI M3 is still in production, so no data yet. Looking at the data, 6spd in the M3/M4 will be dead or US/Canada option only soon.

Dare I say there was some bias at the start of production of the M3 towards the 6MT? There was a 3 month delay for DCT and for an E90 build. At least that's what I was told when I placed my order in Feb '08....otherwise I'd own an E90 DCT instead of an E92 6MT!!

Not that this would account for the vast majority of 6MT sales...

Just a thought!

That is correct. I bought a very lightly used 6mt e90 from a gentleman that bought the same exact spec car, color and all to get the dct.

Just saw the R&T article (similar to conclusions from other publications) that they'd take the old 328i vs the new. When the base car isn't really improved, going to be tough for the M variant to as well, especially when the best part (N/A racing engine) is taken away. Have to laugh when the article says that "It's no longer BMW, it's now BmW"

This is most likely correct. The US/Canada spec E92 M3 6spd started production on 2007-11-19 and DCT started on 2008-03-06

One of the last 8 US-spec E92 M3's is still sitting at the port, waiting for a boat. (The wait is agonizing. But expected!)

Oh and thanks for posting this.

There is so much speculation about the M4 vs. the current e9x M3. My guess is that it will be a similar overall transition as what we saw from the E60 M5 to the F10 M5. The numbers will all be better, but the subjective driving experience won't be as intoxicating.

All I'm going to say is that it's a damn shame we have to be the enthusiasts and owners to witness the demise of the last true M car. Farewell to the throaty, screaming, metallic, naturally aspirated engine. You will be missed dearly. Every time an M3 or even the E60 M5 came into the shop for a PDI the sound of the engine was something that always put a grin on my face. I was always so jealous of the potential new owner but always hoped they would enjoy it like I would have had I been able to afford it. I hope that all you current M3 owners enjoy the engineering masterpiece while you have it.

Considering the world economic meltdown for the first 3 years of production, 65,000 M3s sold out of the 100,000 target is a very good number. That also could finally explain the very limited set of options offered and the overabundance of special editions in 5.6 production years.

I got two of these suckers, that good it is/was.

Thanks BMW. Again.
