fake vent

is anyone else removing there passenger side rubber vent block off in the hood so that cold air gets in or the hot gets out? Seems pretty dumb to have a fake vent. I actually removed mine and cut the inside rubber out so it looks like the other side.

i've done the same, however it makes sense to have two than just one, that would look awkward.

I removed that little rubber cover as well, the way i see it, it helps the engine heat escape. doesnt that kinda make sence. i dont see the point of that vent being covered...but it would be nice if some one would make and intake that would use that vent as well, that would be nice....

i removed mine and cut the center section out so that it looks like the driver side rather than just take it off all together.

Nope!!!

How much horsepower do you really think that a second vent in the hood could make???? The damn engine makes 103.5 BHP/L for christ sakes. The big $$$ Gruppe M Intake makes next to no power and mirrors the stock design. In fact PG said in his dyno results of said intake that the high flow filter in the Gruppe M intake was probably responsible for the gain. The intake is "NOT" a bottleneck on these cars, and infact is very well designed..... the only limiting factor on the intake of this car is the integral carbon element that is a part of the stock filter assembly. Put in an aftermarket filter sans carbon element and you basically have 99% of what an intake can do on this car.

Case in point, the RD Sport RS46 stroker engine uses a OEM airbox that is unmodified with the exception of a drop in filter...... the engine in question will make 520+ BHP.

i dont think it will make any extra horsepower cuting out the passenger side vent but it seems silly like i said to have a fake vent. At least the hot air in the engine or the colder air outside has another route in and out of that beast.

Its not like you see the cutout from outside, that pic was taken from the inside when the hood is open!

Design something that makes the vent draw heat out of the engine bay rather than trying to force air in.
