207mph

Car's electronic speedo was reading 207mph, garmin GPS was reading 203mph.

Mods: Active Autowerkes ECU tune with top speed governor removed, Remus Race exhaust, RPI straight center pipe with no cats, Evosport Underdrive Pulley, RPI grill scoops.

*disclaimer: this was done on a closed course under supervision of professional drivers...*

6MT.

Didn't take that long, I didn't time it but the car climbs just as easily from 160 to 190 as it does from 120 to 160... at around 190'ish you'll gain another 2-3mph every few seconds until it slows down around 197 where you'll gain 1mph every 4 or 5 seconds until finally maxing out at 207mph. GPS was reading 203 when the car was reading 207 so i'll trust the GPS over what the car was telling me. Stayed at 205 to 207 for a solid 5 minutes or so before slowing back down, engine temp was holding at 240* the whole time and I was getting 6mpg.

The whole time I was thinking "people pay 1.4 million for a bugatti to do the same fuckin thing i'm doin right now..."

Sixth gear is 0.872
Stock diff is 3.85:1
Stock rear tires are 265/35-19

That means top speed is mechanically limited to 193mph in sixth gear, 8300rpm.

Active Autowerkes ECU tune increases the redline... it's either 8,900 or 9,000 which makes a huge difference. Every gear you pull harder and go faster than without the ECU tune... especially 6th.

I thought the AA software bumps up the redline to about 8500 or 8600 rpm.

And I'm shocked that the M3 is capable of 200+ mph. I thought the top speed was around 170-180 mph.

News to me..

6th gear is useless on a stock M3 because you can reach the max governed speed in 5th gear.

and you shouldn't be that shocked... this car is so restricted from the factory it's ridiculous...

AA tune doesn't alter redline, and if it did it would be nowhere near 9000rpm.

Bullshit!

You can order with or without an increased red line.

205-207mph for 5 min?

5/60 * 206 = 17.17 miles of track traveling at 200+ mph

(excluding the length of time to go from 0-205 mph)

That must have been some closed course.

Um, not bullshit. AA no longer changes the redline because they say it causes unnecessary wear on the engine, HOWEVER AA was changing the red line on every ECU tune on every E9X M3 ever since they started tuning them all the way up until a couple of months ago but it's still offered as an option for those who still want it, feel free to call them and they'll confirm this for ya right over the phone.

Unless you're trying to hit speeds over 200mph, there is really no purpose to increasing the redline, IMO.

Yep, it was a nice closed course through two counties with professional driver supervision and support from the local sheriffs department the whole way

At M3's coefficient of drag at 0.31 with a frontal area of 2.11 sq. meters, one needs about 400 hp at the wheels to reach 204 mph. I guess the speed is not impossible with the help of tail wind, downward slope, etc.

It is not impossible, you just need the right place to test it like the Autobahn.
