275/35/18 Rears?

Thinking about going wider in the back. Can get a good deal on a pair of these.. any downsides? Will still have 245/40/18 on in the front. Thanks for the input!

Why would you want to do that? Do you like to understeer?
I would recommend you to go wider in the front as well.

200 a tire.. and get to go wider. I still have another set of 245s brand new in my garage. Will it really mess things up?

I would not put wider tires in the back if I don't go wider on the front as well. Do you track your car? If not, I doubt, that you will notice any significant difference to the 265. But then if you don't track it, you don't really need to spend more money on tires. Are you using the standard 18'' rims?

Yes standard 18's. The difference between the two wheels is within the 3% limit. In the future I'd like to go 255 and 285. But for now I want to know if there will be a downside to going with 275/35/18 over the stock 265/40/18

Yes, you can go 275/35R18 in the rears. With camber plates, you can put those in the front, too. (Actually not sure if camber plates would be necessary, either.) Looks pretty awesome that way! Here are APEX ARC-8s w Nittos on my friend's car.
