New sound that isn't supposed to be there..
So in a fairly hard right hand turn, driver's window down, maybe pushing 30mph, i can hear what sounds like a rock in the tread of the front driver's side tire. But it only makes the noise when the weight transfers to the driver's side wheels.
Anyone had anything similar?

When I took mine it to have them check out the tin can ping noise in the back wheels they mentioned something like what you described as a known issue from BMW.
I don't remember most of the info he told me (since it wasn't the issue for my car) but it was something about a noise from a wheel(s) but only under sharp/tight cornering. My issue was different but they even had me test for this issue but driving in tight circles out back of the dealership. If you can reproduce the noise (I couldn't for my issue cause it's random so they couldn't do anything) I'd take it to the dealer and see if this is the case, they should have a bulletin about it.

No this is the mysterious turning, metal ticking, spark, rock in tread, clicking sound that our cars get. I have this too and have since almost day one. Supposedly it's normal on all BMWs.
Some say you can really hear it at an auto X.

I've had the same noise for awhile.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185080 I can't remember exactly, but I remember reading that it's a known issue; something to do with a loose plate in/around the rotor area? I also remember reading that nothing is wrong, and it's not hurting anything.
