Completely off topic, but would you swap three M3s for one of these!?

Oh, God, yes!!!

The new 430 Suderia. Let's hope the M-DCT shifts are this quick and smooth...

Now, where can I get £172,000?

I love this car. Its been a while since a pure, race bred, and lightweight production car has excited me as much as this one.

But let me play devil's advocate a bit. Why would you have 3 new M3s? And if you have 3 new M3s you might be able to afford the 430 Scuderia AND keep the M3s as well. lol

Hmmm... I'll trade 2 M3 for the regular F430 and keep the 3rd M3 . The Scuderia is the successor to the Challenge Stradale, and the CS is one bloody noisy car. I've read when the conditions allow, you'll hear the CS up to 2 miles away. You'll need ear plugs driving one of these

Are you kidding?!

Trade 3 M3s for a Ferrari F430?

In a heartbeat!

Its not like everyday someone pulls up in a late-model Ferrari.

Sounds extremely nice, and looks like it is tons of fun to drive.

Sure

Yes way OT, but who can resist a reply....

Sure I would trade 3:1, would probably still be a wise choice based purely on financial considerations.

Man is that exhaust sound heaven or what?

A couple of observations. It is very interesting to note the similarities between this car and the new M3. Sure don't flame me too hard - I am not trying to make any direct comparisons, but the 4.X liter, high-reving V8 is just the begining.
  • Redlines at 8600, only 200 rpm more than the M3
  • Uses ion flow knock detection system just like the M3
  • Tranny gets shift times down to 60 ms. I suspect this might be a real 60 ms unlike BMW who when they quote 60-80 ms or so mean the shift time not counting the clutch operations. Either way the new M-DCT will upstage this tranny with shift times about about 20-30 ms. This box only has 6 gears as well opposed to 7 in the M-DCT
  • Manettino: Doesn't this sound a lot like M-drive. Not saying BMW invented this at all but their customization capabilities are very similar.
  • Composite bumpers are a shared design feature to reduce weight. it is very likey that the Scuderia uses composite main body components such as the roof in the M3

So be proud of the new M3 - it really is a bargain! If only it had a flat plane crank, direct injection and the same 100+ kg weight savings over its current weight...

But that weight saving has accounted for a near-£50k price increase. I hope they can do the same on the CSL for a lot less.

This guy is pretty bad at forming sentences.

I think I would rather have a Porsche GT3 RS + BMW M3 Sedan over it though..

Great review. You see Chris Harris's face in the first video, when they're in the briefing. He's a real petrol head...

No.

But I would trade in one of the M3s for an F430 drivetrain + custom "CSL homolongation" to apply to one of the other two remaining M3s.

All day, any day. Schumacher input - as per this week's mag- this car will be a living legend. Makes me no longer want a 997 T.
