Anyone thinking attending the NASA HPDE, TT or Racing May 4-5? Or maybe some of their other events later in the year? I have a friend with a GT3 that is interested so I may make it up to Pacific if his car is done.

At this point I am just looking for events that have more than few participants, faster cars/drivers, a good track and folks I know. I have been checking out the attendee lists for some of the up coming events and some look like they will be canceled because of lack of participation. Turn 2 only had 19 people signed up Sat. and 14 for Sun. at ORP.........hoping to go both days but may pull back to one. PDX BMW club only has 30-35 signed up. Looking grim.
HOD has a day at the Ridge coming up. I will probably go regardless of participation............plus they don’t publish the sign up list.

It's pretty lame to be honest. It encompasses about 3 seconds of driving time as you go through the kink before T1. There is more grip through the kink now and it feels weird (more grip) although it doesn't unsettle the car. There aren't really any bumps as it transitions between old to new to old but honestly I don't know what the point is. I always felt that standing water was bad at the kink through T1 but they repaved before the kink to the end of the kink and nothing more.

It was a decent day today. Started wet worth no rain, dried out, and then rained some in the late afternoon. There was a group of fast n furious Asian kids that came around 1030am (read: LATE) and they were ridiculous and there were a handful of slow people and the usual "no you ain't gonna pass me" few cars so all in all the day could have been better. I complained to Don about a number of issues that basically boiled down to inexperienced drivers and while he was nice and made an effort to improve things he did say "it's a $195 track day so what should we expect". Thumbs down to that comment. Throw some black flags for the idiots please.

BTW there was a hot pink wrapped E93 M3 with full straight piped exhaust in the fast n furious group that was beyond obnoxious. Someone's childhood was a real tragedy apparently.

huuummmph!.. I heard they spent six digits dollar figures on this repaving - wish they'd repaved 7-8-9 instead... turn 8 and 9 are almost dirt-track like now..

I think I'm going to try and stay away from pacific as much as I can until they fix the track a bit..

Sucks that your day wasn't great.. a pink m3 sounds horrible!

doesnt sound fun. i have complained at times to don about lack of let bys. i get irritated when i present myself corner after corner in someones mirrors and on their bumper to no avail. should be handled when they are holding 5 cars up behind.

We all know that the e9x M3 eats through consumables quite quickly. Some drivers some tracks faster than others. I was up to $1000-1200 per day just in consumables. This is one of the reasons I built the e46 M3. Eddie and I have driven 25-30 sessions so far. The tires still have ~ half tread and you literally can not see the difference in brake pad ware......maybe 1-2mm max. (2750lb. dry no driver) So once it is completely built my running costs will be much lower than the street car which equals more track days and a better driver!

I have a few things going for me. First and foremost is the weight reduction. Then I have AP Racing BBK with full floating front rotors. This car also has higher cornering speeds but lower top end speed due to aero. I dont have to shed as much speed going into each corner.......its really a brush and go.

Yes your car has a lot of things going for it, that I won't! Just hoping my wear rates are better so I can manage 2 days a month without spending arm and leg on pads and tires.

I did PIR with HOD this last Thursday....... 2 hrs of track time! I had a private drivers coach (Eddie Nakato) in the morning and really made some improvements.
I think I may drag another friend up to the Ridge Monday May 13th for another HOD day. If I am energetic I may go back to the Ridge Friday May 17th with turn 2.
