Beyond the performance, the fit and finish on these c7's are amazing. We have one in my shop now and it is sssso nice. I can't wait to get my hands on a c7 z06.

I am seriously considering buying a c7.

With that said, though, I think that they definitely borrowed heavily with some of this design styling. Whenever I see the front, I'm thinking SLS AMG, not Corvette. Not that that's a bad thing, per se, but I guess I just think that the Corvette should have always remained an American original. Oh well, I guess their thinking is "if you can't beat 'em join 'em"!
I see just as many "old men" in Porsche 911s. Th bottom line is that most people who can afford a pure two seater sports car in the $70k+ range are empty nesters who have a little money saved.

Nah, I don't think you are, I just think this thread is just a lot of talk from people wanting to move on to the next hot thing (and I'm puzzled why it still hasn't been moved to the M3 Vs forum). I'm sure this will be a fantastic car on the track, but it doesn't seem like it would make the best DD, and the number of people that can actually afford to put a 100K car regularly on the track (and will) is not likely to be well represented in this forum. I do greatly appreciate the fact that Chevy seems to be trying to apply as much learning as possible from their racing to their street cars.

Frankly, if I could deal with a two seat only coupe with limited trunk space as my DD, I wouldn't be in an M3 right now. Regardless of what people in this thread seem to believe, these cars are not in any way direct competitors, although I'm sure there are some that would cross shop both. There is no reason for BMW to feel "embarrassed", because they are not attempting to build a two seater sports car with the next M3/4. Now if the (rumoured) ATS-V blows the next gen M3/4 away, then that's a different story.

Well technically it's a targa. There also hasn't been any confirmation whether there's any way to stow the roof panel in the car itself in case rain spontaneously opens up. Given how spacious Corvette hatch areas typically are though, I'm betting it'll be fine.

and i again i have been repeating this point.

there are people here who can daily drive a corvette rather it be a base C7 or a Z06. there are people here who like M3 more than corvettes. just because someone buys a M3 does not mean they bought it because they needed the extra space, more luxury or what ever.

what is going on is that GM really did a great job on this car. it is more appealing to European car buyers more than ever before. the look of the exterior and interior is a step in the right direction. the car is more exotic looking, and comes with a good interior. again European buyers like this.

yes corvette is not direct competitors. but people WILL still compare them beucase some people are looking to spend 80-90k on performance car.

The thing that's most attractive to me is that everyone who drives it comments on how they've really nailed the handling at the edge this time. It's not just a brute anymore, but more of a truly refined sports car.

Agreed ^

Lot of people who are just performance car junkies. M3 is a performance car icon, so is Corvette. I buy a different performance car every couple of years just so that I can say I drove them all. You can daily drive any of them if you motivated enough!!

Yep. This corvette looks like somethng special and i think BMW should be very concerned about losing customers. I was waiting for new m3/4, but after i saw this beast, sorry bmw, i am not interested.

I was about to put a deposit on the new M at a local south FL dealer but I think I just changed my mind after seeing this OMG this thing is just sick!!! I've been a loyal M customer since 1995 when I bought my first M3, went through E46,E90 and now E92 but damn sorry BMW I think you lost me here to Chevy. Don't care if the interior in this thing is made of skunk fur. Car is bad ass

Funny. I think the skunk fur seats will only be in the top end trim package.

I'm guessing the price of the new Z06 will be north of $100k. The C6 ZR1 was, and this car is superior in every way.

It's noted in this thread a couple times and in the GM video that if you can afford a current Z06 you can afford this one. It says a fully optioned model will be under 100k.

I'd be pissed if I bought a C6 ZR1 for $120k!
