Received a Ticket, Help Needed

To my fellow enthusiasts,

It embarrasses me to admit that I got a ticket for no plates a few days ago whilst visiting San Francisco. The ticket calls for a payment of $103, but if proven corrected, the fee drops to only $10. The problem is that I reside in Los Angeles and making the drive back up to San Francisco to prove my violation has been remedied would, in fact, cost me much more than the penalty carried by the citation. Thus is my dilemma.

Unless, as I'm hoping that one of me fellow e90post brethren will confirm, that I am able to prove my innocence either locally, or remotely. Can anyone confirm aforementioned statement?

Thanks for your time and much appreciated,

-aut0sh0cker

Naturally on any other occasion, this would be the proper course of action. Unfortunately at this hour it would seem that the Department of Parking and Traffic is unavailable for telephoning.

And with that, I thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I pray that your information proves of useful and truthful content. I now hope that I can rectify the situation as quickly as possible.

I believe that for fix-it tickets for stuff like broken headlights or cracked windshields it's acceptable to mail the receipt and the ticket itself, along with the required payment and administrative fees, to the court. I don't see why this wouldn't work for front plates as well, if you get a notarized document/picture proof of it. I'd check just to be sure, but I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure to mail it such that they'll receive the letter before your due date!
