no symptoms except for an ugly noise that started a week ago under acceleration. The reason I took it in was for the DSC and then right before the appointment it started making noise.

Not the thing for me haha, I live in the city and am not so great at working on cars, so I would rather just let a trusted mechanic take care of it.

I hope so, but I would rather just not deal with insurance if I don't have to, meaning that if it isn't a necessary repair I don't want to do it

They want $7100 for suspension work? Although the M3 uses a buttload of aluminum in their suspension parts, that just seems absurd. Definitely look for a second opinion. And what sort of noise did you notice? Find it hard to believe that pothole could cause damage to all 4 corners of an M3's suspension system.

I'm calling bs on most of the suspension damages unless you drove it off a cliff. You should diy the idrive controller, it's easy with a basic set of tools. Take it to a indy.

Autocoture is in New Jersey and they would definitely be able to take care of you on this.

It doesn't surprise me they suggested insurance, dealers love taking advantage of insurance companies..

OP: If you PM me your VIN I will check your service records and see if anything stands out, even stemming before you purchased the car from the dealer. About 9 years ago I had a well known and reputable dealer sell me a CPO 330 which had frame damage! They weren't willing to deal until my attorney showed up. I had a refund the next day for every penny.

Since you're in NYC, you can also check out these guys:

https://www.facebook.com/MSpecPerformance

I didnt read all the details, but if your car is driving ok and the motor is fine, I can go for a ride a long with you at some point and maybe jack your car up to see if anything catches my eye.

I know I wouldn't be able to afford an $11k repair bill and no way I'm going through my insurance just to pay it back in increased premiums. You'd see me scouring the web for used replacement parts and having a jacked up m3 in my driveway with everything apart. I'm in Queens by the way.

Did you valet the car around the time, or shortly before, the noise started?

Completely overpriced. Take your car elsewhere (I'd also recommend ACM). My iDrive knob came off too, just super glued it back together for $5. Don't let them push you around.

Also, $1800 for tires? No.

Which specific suspension parts did they say were damaged? All four corners? Only the left corners? Front left and rear right? I mean certain combinations of damage would be in possible unless you ran into a ditch the size of the car...

Was the car drive able ? The damage description made it seem like the car is completely undriveable.

You live in nyc they figure you will just say ok and just write them a nice check.

In order for that much damage to be to suspension I think you need to hit every speed bump in nyc doing 80mph. Take your car out of there ASAP.

tires are a around 1K. that alone would save you around 7-800.

I'm having the same internal debate (and stress) about keeping the car too.

I've been eyeballing that new 2015 V-8 Hyundai Genesis sedan (please don't throw tomatoes as me).
