Locally I hammer it, flat out where I dare at all times and hitting 140-150mph on B roads regularly (sorry plod but it has to be done). On business trips I drive aggressively but rarely exceed 100mph for more than a few seconds (our motorways are plod infested and not worth the risk). The car varies between 19 and 19.3, never seems to go outside these limits. This is purely from the DIS. I swear I hammer the shit out of it, I hammer the shit out of the Jeep too (34-37 mpg 2.0 VW Diesel) which is scarier than the M to be honest. My wifes Merc actually locks itself when I go near it.

I got 23MPG on the highway when driven really nice. In city conditions, I agree with you. It's horrible.

Maybe it's the fuel quality?? 10-15mpgs seems very low... I still need to get my car on August 7, but check this Topgear test: Toyota Prius vs M3 on mpgs.
Cheers A.

When I bought my car, it had around 26 miles on it, and for my first 200 miles the car was averaging between 6.5-8.0 MPG, but I when I reset the MPG display things started to get better, so my guess is that the 1st 25 miles (car testing in Germany, VPC and the dealer) had an impact on the average consumption. Things are getting relatively better and I am averaging between 14.5-15 MPG (mixed City/HWY), and on a short road trip (50 mi) the car averaged 20-22 MPG (going 70-80 MPH). I hope things get better for you as you put more miles on the car..... |

threads like this one make me laugh, why? because i own an M5!!!! AND THAT BEAST IS THIRSTY LIKE F@CK!!!!!
i'm planning on trading my M5 for an M3 within a year from now, so i don't think the M3 MPG would be as bad as my current M5 MPG. Last edited by marwan; 07-12-2008 at 03:26 PM.. |
