The old SmartyCam did, so I would be surprised if this doesn't.

Update:

I was informed today by AiM to expect the first batch of shipment in August. Units will be shipped in the order they were received. A new version of SmartyManager (the configuration software) will also be released.

All domestic customers who have already placed an order will be upgraded to two-day shipping free of charge.

I really appreciate everyone's patience during this (long) process.

Smartycam looks great but is so damn expensive. Please post some review, when you have tested it.

If you only have SoloDL, is it possible to make an overlay similar to the one in SmartyCam?

Yes. There are third-party software you can purchase/download, such as Dash Ware.

An example from my customer:

wow a camera that does its own datalogging? am i reading this correctly? (with ecu connection). Only question is why is the screen on the front of the camera? I guess it'll work since the camera is behind you in most applications.

Yes.

The screen is in the front of the camera because most race cars have roll cages which make the rear seats (if they exist) inaccessible. Having the screen in the front makes installation much easier.

Here is some smarty cam footage that may be of interest. I am not trying to jack the thread just show what is possible (look to the lower right of the vid - lap time, speed, rpm, g's etc)

I have tracked my M3's in the past but there is nothing like driving a shifter kart - unless you have access to an F1 car like these guys

Enjoy!

That looks good. Is it complicated to work with? How do you sync the right start point of the video? I guess it will be easier with a cam which has GPS built in, e.g. Sony AS30.

How complicated it is really depends on your experience. Some people think it's easy, some don't, others simply don't have the time.

From my understanding syncing is a trial and error process. These software have free trails so try them out!

Just to make sure. A smartycam cannot replace the SoloDL alone. You can get OBD data only with SoloDL, right?

When did the SoloDL came on the market? Are there any new versions expected?

SmartyCam HD is designed to complement Solo DL.

Solo DL acts as the bridge between SmartyCam and ECU. Solo DL connects to the ECU via direct CAN connection or OBD2. It also records lap times based on GPS and displays it in car.

SmartyCam takes data from Solo DL and overlays it on HD videos.

The SoloDL looks really interesting. I am thinking about buying one for next season. When did the SoloDL came out? Is there any new version expected?

It came out late 2011. No new version planned to my knowledge.

There are, however, constant firmware upgrades which are free to all owners.
