I've been thinking about etched concrete for the workshop, and possibly for the garage.
___________________________

I've walked on those garage floor tiles before, and they felt kind of funny; I think they'd take some getting used to.

I don't like the full plastic sheets either. I'd be afraid that they'd curl up on the corners or edges.

Although the epoxy floors with the flecks look great, I don't think they'd last long.

Ideally, a solid surface floor, over the concrete, would be best. Something that is glued down. I've been looking for something like that off and on for about a year, with no luck, but I'm sure it's out there. Maybe a big linoleum-like sheet, something like you'd see in a hospital hallway.

I Googled 'commercial flooring', and found Armstrong's vinyl flooring:

I don't think it's durable enough, but it comes in big sheets. I'll keep looking.

Found a promising epoxy coating system - Dur-A-Quartz, for industrial applications.

I've been researching this subject for a little while since I will be moving to a home with a decent sized garage space.

So far, the Racedeck floor tiles seems to be my top choice. I keep hearing horror stories about the various epoxy options (peeling, etc). The GarageMahal site shows some amazing work, but a bit over the top for me.

Keep the ideas coming!

I don't know much about the Racedeck tiles, but I've had my epoxy painted floor for over three years and it hasn't peeled anywhere. As long as you clean the concrete floor well, the epoxy paint shouldn't peel. It's very durable and easy to clean.

What ceiling height do you have in your garage? Usually, I see lifts in garages with extremely high ceilings, but you seem to get by just fine.

Haha... not until next week. Drove the car today and it NEEDS tires. I'm talking epic lack of grip, and with that much tq and that little weight back there, it's scary.

Will report back after new tires. Mmmmm.

Gary, you have a TON of space, wow, that is awesome.....I will have 22 feet wide by 24 feet long, so some economy will be necessary...My basement (sadly not on the same level, like Neurorad) will have a ton of room, so I can keep a lot of little used things there.

I will post pics as things develop!
My garage is over 900 sq/ft. I wish it was a little bigger and taller.
It looks empty because I took pics before I bought the house - this garage was the reason I bought the house (and the lot size).

I wanted to go epoxy, but I was worried about peeling. Epoxy is less expensive, but if I moved, I can't take the epoxy flooring with me . With garage tiles you can take it with you.

For my garage, it was kinda expensive. It was about $2.5k worth of plastic.

Thanks.. The garage is filled with stuff now. After two years, I finally was able to get one car in there after a week of clean up.

One thing I like about epoxy flooring is if you spill oil on the floor, you can wipe it up with ease. With the garage tiles, the liquids may leak between the tiles. Perhaps not oil, but radiator fluid and less viscous liquids.

Nice. My current garage is less than 8.5 ft high. my previous garage had 12 ft ceilings but the garage was about 1/4 the size. I wish my current garage had higher ceilings as I have a lift I have not installed.

I will put that lift in my 8.5ft high garage. I am thinking about removing portions of the ceiling so I can raise the car higher.

What type of bolts did you use to secure the car lift? Mechanical anchors or epoxy/chemical anchors? I bought a set of mechanical redhead wedge bolts. I'm going to start drilling into my cement soon. I'm a bit afraid I'm going to mess up the hole using the hammer drill I have as I've never drilled a 3/4 hole into a garage floor.

How about this garage??

Yes, I know the picture is of an F1 car. But do notice, that it's in someone's private garage, and notice the cars behind it!!

No, it's not mine obviously. I do wish though. I know the thread is "show YOUR garage", but this garage is too cool to pass. The garage belongs to Koji Aoyama. He's in his early 30's, and comes from family wealth. He's said to be the Japanese Paris Hilton. He's gay....very flaming gay.

In the picture are just a few of his collection...white MC12, white F50, white Gallardo.

His other cars includes a:
silver F40
silver Enzo with BBS rims
black F430
white F599
Maybach 67
white Phantom
silver CLK DTM
black G55
black 997 TT Cab
a couple Aston Martins (i forget which ones now)
black SLR

and obviously....the F1 car, which you need to be a VIP Ferrari client to achieve.

None of his Ferraris are red, except the F1.
