I hate these parking spot bump stops.....!

They're everywhere!!!...how can you tell how far forward you can go before you scrape the bottom of your front bumper??

Every time i see one of these, i cringe....i ease into it at a snails pace until i hear the CRUNCH sound of my bumper making contact with the cement, and then back off....everytime this happens, i feel like i dropped a $100 bill on the ground and got stabbed in the stomach at the same time. money getting shredded left and right...AND THEN, there's the fear of not getting far into the spot enough so your rear end sticks out 3 feet more than the other cars and some idiot on the other side backs into you, and the guy next to you swiping your rear corner bumper with his because he's not used to maneuvering around cars that stick out too much from their parking spots....this is one of the most frustrating things ever....so either its scrape your front bumper OR get whacked by some idiot by sticking out too far....everytime i have to park in these, i make it a conscious effort to quickly do my business and GTFO..

when my wife is with me, i make her get out and check to tell me how much room i have to go...but i hate doing this because if there are people around, and they see this, they will see that i care too much about my car and whack me with a keystroke across my hood while im in the restaurant or something.....this car sometimes is a blessing and a curse all in one bag.

I cannot imagine how those guys with add-on lips do it...if i had one, id be suicidal...$1000 Cf parts getting whacked by these bump stops...day in and day out...how do you guys park without hitting the lip??

You could always install a backup camera with an add-on front camera?

I always just go to the far corner of the lot where people are too lazy to go. Not sideways and stupid, just in the further out spots where it's less likely that someone will tag me.

Sorry, but it just sounds like you cant judge and know your car's dimensions. Plus YOU ought to back your car in as it is ALWAYS easier to back in for multiple reasons that I will not explain, then PDC could help the rest of the way.

Theres a couple things I do, first, I ALWAYS ALWAYS find a spot that only one other car could be beside me. I love parking next to walls or post . I'll get my car 2-3 inches from my passenger door giving the driver side AMPLE room to the next car.

Mad but this is just the start of it, You're gonna get flamed for asking how to park your car

Hope your figure this out

You have to learn where the front of your car is and know where to stop It's not so hard.

Where is it that how you park is regulated with driving in or backing in?

There is this little concept of knowing the limits of your car. If you can't park without hitting something, you should consider an SUV, or the bus.

Parking

The way i did it is practice parking.

Sit in your car and lean slightly to the left so u can see the bottom of your side mirror and the curb or parking block at the same time.

The distance is relative. For me, when the space between the bottom of the side mirror and the curb is 6 inches, i am actually 1 and a 1/2 feet from the curb.

Practice doing this and you can park without worrying about hitting your lip.

I usually look at the car next to me, at the reflection which kinda gives me a visual of the clearance my bumper has before I hit the bump stop. If it's nighttime, then I tell my gf to get off the car to guide me...

Thats what I do.

And I'm also curious as to why you wouldn't be able to back in a spot? Thats ridiculous.

Easiest way is to see the parking headstone and stop the car 1-2 feet in front of it. You gain nothing by parking as close as possible to it.
Works every time.
