Definitely a kid's car, at least in SoCal it is. Not kidding. If I were you I'd at least consider an M5, but I mean it's your money - get what you want.

M3 a kids car? Never heard that one before. Sure you will find a lot of rich kids on here who own one but thats def not the norm. I wouldnt call a $60K car a kids car by any stretch of the imagination.

If you get an E90, I doubt she will even know its an ///M. For some reason 4-doors says "Sense of maturity". Even a 600hp blown E90 doesnt appear to be as youthful as the coupe.

Most of the guys i see driving Z06's look to be lightly-grayed and in there 40's. If they can get away with it, anyone can.

I think it's pretty crazy how many young guys/girls are driving these cars. I guess I would also include a filter for the age of people that bought and paid for or is paying for the car without any assistance. I could buy my 3 year old an M5 but that has nothing to do with the age of an M5 driver.

True. Most M3 driver's in new york look like kids, except for some verts. I think part of it relates to the weather and the lack of AWD. The E90 is more justifiable as a practical family car in parts of the country where snow, ice and below freezing temps are not a big concern. I noticed quite a few more 550's now that they are offered with X-drive. I see tons of S5's driven by older folk like me.

PS Neglected to mention that the other option is an F10 M sport
She's right, you need a GTS or GT3 - actually I would suggest a GT-R; which is a great foil for an M3.

That's much too young to be driving a car with over 400 hp. I suggest anyone under the age of 5 to start with a 335.

I'm 40. I would guess the overall average age of M3 owners is close to 40. There is a bias towards younger owners in a forum.

On a side note, one of my car magazines recently had the average age of Corvette owners listed and it was mid 50's. Interesting.

I guess that the point I am attempting to make, albeit in a circuitous fashion, is that if you are going to conform, you should technically buy an Avalon, or better still, a Fusion Hybrid. Both fine vehicles, but simply miserable to drive. I played the conformity game for way too long and wasted 2 decades of my life worrying about stuff like this. If you like the M3, buy it, or you will live to regret not making a choice based on your free will, not from validation. Sorry for the rant, but this is an incredible car, even for the over 50 crowd!

The thread should have been shutdown here, and all other posts deleted, because this says it all.

I have to say I'm pretty surprised at the amount of folks under 30 who have replied.

Without being nosy, and more out of curiosity, how are you guys swinging a $50-75K car at such a young age?
