I agree with this statement.....I purchased my first ///M3 at 33. Now, many BMW's later I've treated myself to another ///M3 at 45...........Phil

Age means what......?

The OP's wife is questioning his decision.......I am way older than 40, I can drive anything I want, but I love the compact nature of the M3. I was clocked at 58.6 MPH on my snowboard a couple of weeks ago, and this morning my heart rate hit and sustained 188 bpm during intervals on my watts indoor bicycle trainer, as usual - PS, I live at 7700 feet above sea level. A couple of weeks ago I was surfing with my two youngest sons in Hawaii. I guess that the point I am attempting to make, albeit in a circuitous fashion, is that if you are going to conform, you should technically buy an Avalon, or better still, a Fusion Hybrid. Both fine vehicles, but simply miserable to drive. I played the conformity game for way too long and wasted 2 decades of my life worrying about stuff like this. If you like the M3, buy it, or you will live to regret not making a choice based on your free will, not from validation. Sorry for the rant, but this is an incredible car, even for the over 50 crowd!

Very well stated... age means NOTHING. Get the car that makes you happy, or you'll regret it.

Where in Utah are you from? I spent the first 8 years of my life growing up in Tooele. I miss Utah and the mountains a lot.

So am I in September, 1937 was a wonderful year

I don't care what people think I drive what I like and feel young at heart. Last year I drove my Z4 3.5i all the way to California and back. Yes I found her a bit small and cramped, still what a car it was Always wanted to drive a convertible to California so I did. So what if they call us Old Farts, some day everyone will be an Old Fart

Got my my first M3 when I was 68, now I got a brand new one and it feels fantastic. Happy Birthday to you ... when it rolls around and many more

Cheers,

Rolf-Dieter

everytime I look at myself in the mirror I ask: "who's that handsome boy?" I answer "ME". then I ask: "how old is that handsome boy?" I reply:"20". But then I look at my driver license and reality settles:"38". ehhh...
Life is too short Dave; enjoy!

You mean everyone else isn't about to turn 60 like me? I guess that explains a lot. And I probably single-handedly just put the average age of the group well over 40.

Have had an M3 in almost every flavor (e36, e46, e92). Never had an e30, but had a '87 325is. And still have the '73.5 911T Coupe I drove off the showroom floor one month out of school.

Nicely Biggerunn done about the Porsche, mine was only a e28 535is and I got it a bit later since first I had to save for it

We still have it and are restoring it ... some pictures here Our first Bimmer

anyway this 2011 M3 is my 6th Bimmer and 10th German car all paid in hard earned cash.

Why should we not in the prime of our life have fun as well and not ever worry about the payments then there are all the other american cars ... what can I say I am a car nut like so many of us around here ....

Happy Motoring
