M3 is great car but no race car, highend luxuary sport cars yes with a lot of potential. I would consider GT3 RS more of race inspired car coming pretty close to track bread machine.

I am not sure if mine rattles or not. Between Bluetooth and the radio there's never enough quiet for me to tell.

I'm anal and, i've had $35k cars that didn't rattle and won't tollerate it on a $70k car. I've taken my car in 6 times to address the same rattle coming from what I thought was the passenger side mirror. They did everything from lubing the mirror to taking the dash off to try to locate it. Finally solved, the rattle was coming from the plastic mesh that holds the side turn signal. It was cracked(I guess from when I switched to the black ones). They replaced it and no more rattle.

This is why I'm reluctant to mod (performance or aesthetic). I use the 95% rule. If I'm 95% satisfied I don't screw with it for fear of creating a problem.

The two Vettes that I owned (an '05 C6 and an '07 C6 Z06) were completely rattle free cars. The worst one was my 997S which had three in the dash, a rattling seat back and a vibrating door speaker. My 335's were pretty good --one here or there; former E60M5 had a rattle in the dash that wasn't too bad. Rattles drive me completely insane; I empathize with the OP. I've heard about way more rattles in the E9x M's than I would ever have guessed.

im starting to think it comes and goes with the weather...i posted this back in Jan or so....yesterday i drove the car over the same crappy roads...was 77degreesF outside...windows closed..didnt hear a dam thing...i do hear the instrument cluster part of the dash rattle now and then at night...that one is annoying cuz its right up in your face.....i took the 2 screws out and tried to put some friction tape on the lower left and right edge but it didnt do anything....when i looked behind the panel, i saw ALOT of padding from the factory...i couldnt imagine WHY it would rattle or make that buzzing sound...annoying

FINALLY!!!!!!! My driver's seat no longer creaks!!!!!!! Like a whole new car!

I had BMW take off the plastic POS piece over the seat controls and cover the hell out of it with felt tape. They actually did it, and did it correctly. Now if I touch the part it feels like is was molded to the seat and doesn't make a sound. This is one of the worst noises from the cars, but alas, no more...all that is left is the rear creak. May never fix that one though.

Nice. Thanks for the update. Will see if my dealer will do the same with my passenger side.

for #5, if you have the rear sunshade, then it's from that.

It could be, but I think many of us without the sunshade also have this issue. I think it's the heat of the sun on the roof/headliner. Something expands and rubs creating a crackling creak. Alliteration aside, this does not happen on cloudy days.

It cost me north of 50 to me, but its still a lot of money. I accepted it, you should too. Realize that 70k might be a lot of money, but you are paying most of that 70k to the brand name of BMW. For some people who think that money is a lot expects a handmade car thats special like a mclaren f1, well, its not. It is going to rattle. Especially remember that you bought a sports car with sports suspension, that's another thing. You should have known you weren't buying an S series mercedes.
If you truly believe the cost of these cars is mostly paying for a brand, and not better engineering, I feel sorry for you, because it means you bought the car because of the status of it and you have no concept of what goes into manufacturing these cars.

Cheers,
