pull out and call steve Thomas BMW. haven't bought a car from them but hear they do things right.

if you're going to be living wt the car day in day out then you want the perfect car.

mine had 9KM on the odometer. didnt special order it but still had to wait two weeks for the dealer.. so what I'm trying to say is see if u can dealer trade the exact car that you want.

It took less than 0.3 mile for mine to sync in Germany. So when I picked up the car the advisor in BMW welts told me they had to drive it to sync.

Don't take it.

Thats ridiculous...55 miles? NO way.

If you decide to stay with that one, no way are you going to pay what you decided...haggle the price down.
I would go to a different dealership and start over. They may already have on ordered and see if you can just change the specs on it.
I'm sorry bro. That sucks so bad. But I wouldn't accept that.

This is an updated thread from 2009. Congrats to the OP on his new car. Will monitor this thread for lulz as people mistakenly offer advice for his situation a few years ago.

OTHER OPTION
ask for $1000 of the price and talk about the "customer survey" rating and you are aware of the 0-5 rating.
To do this he'll need access to time travel technology and that is not readily forthcoming.

Here’s the story – I ordered a JB E92 M3 about 3 months ago. Prior to ordering, I did a test drive at a different SF bay area dealership than where I ended up buying. In the test drive, the salesman ran a cold M3 with about 80 miles on the odometer up to 8,000 RPM to show off how high the car revs. Of course, I already knew how high the car revs and was just sitting there thinking this salesman is paying no attention to the break-in period and is absolutely ruining this car. Needless to say, I didn’t buy from him, largely for this reason. When I did order the car from a different dealer, I shared this experience with the salesman and put in writing that I wanted to no more than 5 miles on the odometer at time of delivery. He said it might be as high as 8, but understood my concern that the car not be driven.

So, after months of tracking my car’s progress, it arrived at the dealer last Wednesday. The paint on the hood was in bad shape (needed to be buffed) and I had them change the Conti 3s for PS2s. When I went to the dealership last night to sign paperwork and take the car home, the salesman informed me that they had trouble syncing the TPMS with the new wheels (swapped from a different M3 sitting on their lot…the soon-to-be-owner apparently indifferent about tires) and drove the car 55 miles to get the system to sync! 55 miles! Also, the paint still hadn’t been fixed, so I left.

Now I need to decide if I even want this car or if I should demand my deposit back and start from scratch (and wait another 3 months) with a different dealer. So my questions:
1. Does this TPMS syncing issue even sound reasonable to anyone? and 2. What would you do? Accept delivery or not?
Thanks for the advice and sorry about the long first post.
Congratulation for resolving your issues and welcome to the forum

Nice car

Ignore my late advise below, just realized this is an old 2009 post

There was no need to drive the car to check out or synchronize the TMPS all they had to do is re-set it and if there are issues you could have brought the car back to have it correct. There was no need to drive the car aseptically after you expressed your wishes that the car NOT be driven. I think someone took the car home on a joy ride (properly another salesman to show it off).

You are paying good money for this car! If it was I ... n question I would walk away. This is NOT the BMW way of doing business.

The very least they could have done is call you before going on a 55 mile drive and get your okay.

Good Luck whatever you decide.

Cheers,

Rolf-Dieter

Definitely not reasonable,55miles of what kind of driving? The 50-100 miles are the most critical as far as break in. If the TPMS did not sinc within a few miles, the tech should have drove it back to the dealer and you should have been informed of the problem.I would pass on that car,no doubt.

I would walk away. It makes no sense. You do not need to drive at all to synch the TPMS. WALK AWAY NOW!!!

dammit old thread..

GOOD DECISION!

I would agree to take the car if there is additional discount. TPMS doesn't make sense

The dealer CAN tell you the exact rpm and everything about your car by downloading the info from your key.

I ordered through Weatherford BMW in Berkeley (Jenn Bishop is an outstanding sales person, if anyone's in the market). For those who asked, I ordered the first car through BMW SF with a salesman who will remain nameless.
Thanks for all the advice while I was dealing with the last situation.
I am glad you finally received your car. Your story sounds terrible. I purchased my car through SF BMW and did not have any issues. Maybe the place has gone down hill.
