What other cars did you test drive?

I am curious what other cars did some of you test drive before going with the M3? When i am ready to buy i think i would test drive the other german competitors as well, C63 and Audi S4/A6 as well as the f10 535i

I came from an S5 and spent some considerable time comparing the two. Also drove a GTR and a GT3 RS. Didn't like the GTR and the GT3 RS was out of my price range. The M fit the bill for the best all round performance and usefulness. It also works great in the snow I didn't look at Merc because I don't really like them, and I doubt I'll buy an American sports car, so the M3 won. The M5 was pretty cool, but it's too big for me.

Me and wife test drove an RS4 and a CLS55 AMG. My wife hated the Audi, but liked the benz a lot. It was a bit too much (brand new). She loves the M3 even more, and agree I made the right choice. Oh, just me, I test drove a Porsche 911 Turbo, but the interior was not in good shape at all. It was used, but the previous owner didn't take care of it at all. My wife refused to even get in. She said the sales man was a total typical stereo type used car sales man.

That's hilarious! Same reason I hated the guy at Nissan. Wanted to choke him.

Actually none. I came from a 335 and test drove many cars before choosing the 335, but when the good deal came up on the m, I took it without even considering anything else.

Same here.

As soon as i heard they were giving discounts for European Delivery on the M3.. i ran out and ordered it.

After getting the M3 i have driven the C63, CTSV, S5, GTR and vette.. but in the end i still favor my BMWs.

C63 (seat was killing me during test drive, sounded great), S5 (too long of a wait), Cayman S (M3 is still better value, can't beat the sound of a V8)! Went to a Nissan dealer in Dublin, didn't even have a GTR to look at, and they wanted $100,000, so I left!

I had the pleasure of driving the GT-R before making my final choice, and as you can see I am on this board with my M3.

+1 same here.

I went to one dealer first and they wouldnt let me test drive it and used a BS excuse, "oh if the engine go over 12,000 it will damage the car so we cant let people test drive it!" It was a DCT. So I went to a different dealership and test drove one after I placed the order haha.

OK on the first 3, but really a Buick Lacrosse?

I tested a 997S, but the fact that the first gen. 997 were not any faster on track than the M3 and in fact the M3 was faster convinced me to go M3. Oh, and the fact I had owned a E46 and an E36 M3...

Let's just say I've had some long test drives (see sig) before settling on this, and by far it's the best damn car I've ever owned by a country mile!!

At one point before getting my m3, I was looking at carrera S, but it was probably to remind myself that I really wanted M. I never drove e9x M until after I bought it online from a dealer 300 miles away.

I was considering a Meteor Grey 997.2 "S" Coupe before I ordered my M3, which I drove for a good day or so.

It just didn't excite me, the interior was average, the looks very dated of course (classic, if you want to call them that), in Los Angeles every other car is 911, impractical, no space for anything ... It just didn't do it for me. Albeit that car drives absolutely amazing.

I just found the M3 to be a better all around car. After spending a day in the 997.2 and negotiating a whopping $22k off MSRP I drove a black E92 for a good hour to the max - and I never looked back after that.
