It has nothing to do with what rpm you shift at... it only has to do with having the rpm's matched. it just takes practice, every car is different you need to learn the RPM difference between each gear so you know where to keep the engine revs during a shift

I just start the car in 6th...so I never have to shift. Perfect solution.
I have to let the clutch slip a bit more to get the car rolling, but I figure since I don't have to shift ever the wear and tear is the same...
