My new E92
Hi everyone. I apparently posted in the wrong thread the other day (I'm new to the forum). Just wanted to say what's up, and if anyone is in the LA area and ever wants to get together for a weekend ride, I'm down.
I just picked up my e92 M3 over the weekend and drove it back from Phoenix to LA. Here's a few photos I took: I'm having it tinted Thursday, and I just installed the carbon gills a few hours ago. I'll post some pics of that shortly. Potentially going to do red powder coat on the rotors, and black out the exhaust right before the pipes in the rear. Anyone have experience with either of those? Last but not least, I'm thinking of doing this stripe on Thursday as well: Thoughts on that? And should I do it in a satin/matte black, or a gloss black vinyl? |

That's a great looking M3, congrats! I'd skip the stripes and add painted reflectors. I painted my MPE cans a couple of years ago with Rustoleum BBK high temp paint. It was cheap and totally did the trick. I also removed the inner tip black paint to flaunt those nice tips a little more. Enjoy!

Also, you just used the Rustoleum right on this part (the part I highlighted in yellow): |

IMO, though i like the idea of stripes. and the placement you have them at is a good idea....it's a real nice accent to the car. BUT, if you're going stripes, go with the M colors. they mean something at least. even what ///M Power-Belgium recommended is a good idea if stripes is what you dig. oh, and welcome to the forum and congrats on the new car! |

A Dremel with soft wire was used to strip the paint and I used a buffer attachment to polish it a little. It isn't as shiny now, just nice and raw. Here's a pic. What cans, I don't see no stinkin cans! Here's a close up of the inner tip paint removed. Easy breezy and made a huge difference. I hated that the tips were so hidden before. Thanks everyone!
Here's the carbon gills installed: View post on imgur.com I had taken a look at the DIY instructions on the other thread on how to replace these using packing tape, but I had dropped the car off this morning at the dealership and they did it for free. I had them in the trunk so I inquired about having the dealership do it (expecting they might just be nice). Initially they quoted me $160. I said I'd just as easily do it myself, but then the guy hooked me up and did it for free. |

Does anyone know where I might be able to find just this aluminum piece (not sure if this is the exact one - I obviously need an '11 E92 one) and what the part # might be?

Congrats, beautiful car! Love the splitters, spoiler and exhaust additions. Definitely paint the exhaust cans, it's just a much cleaner look. As for the stripes, go with what you like. If you decide on the black, I'd probably say go with satin over gloss.
