Clear Bra Protection

Out of all of the things you can buy for your M, I couldn't think of anything more important than protecting your baby with a clear bra.

When I ordered my M the first option I included was a clear bra from the dealer. It's been the best investment I've done for my car. After 5 months and two seasons (winter and spring) she still look show room clean. No regrets spending $2K.

Anybody else?

Yup, all it takes is one nasty chip on the M dome and it will ruin your day.

Additionally, I find washing and waxing a real joy the dirt never penetrates the paint.

I had my front bumper, fenders and full hood done and don't regret it at all... Although my bumper is trashed from living in the city and scraping on stuff... I am considering pulling the bumper clearbra off...

Great investment nonetheless.

@ OP: No clear bra regrets here as with 9k miles the car is unblemished.

I did full hood and fenders, front bumper and mirrors with Xpel Ultimate (much better than their older film btw). Really happy I did it living in the NE and dealing with crap getting kicked up at the car all the time. Also saved my paint from some moron that poured a milkshake on the hood and tried to key the hell out of it. That alone made it worth it. Used Lee Berbs who is based out in NJ - did an amazing job.

This along with window tint will be my first mod once my M gets here. I'll admit it's not the most exciting mod to do, but i consider it a necessity as I plan on keeping the car for a long long time.

Has anybody here used Suntek paint protection? The guy I'd prefer to use uses this at his shop, from what I've read it is on the same level as Xpel

Agreed but....2K is a bit of a rip off...... I got mine installed everything plus the rockers for 800 with a 3M film. Car always looked great and no complains with the film or the install.....

I have the same set up with my daily and it is money well spent for sure.

Next time may be shop around a bit more.

I install both. I prefer the Suntek film but both Suntek and Xpel Ultimate are great films. I wasn't aware there was a shop in Midland.

lol oh there isn't, I am actually going to have to make a road trip to get this and window tint done in the Dallas area....I'll just get it detailed there before I get it done, and bring some touch up paint incase I get some chips on the drive up there.

I went with Prestige Film from Premier. It is by far the best clear bra film I have seen and the guys at Premier did a great custom wrap. If you think $2K is pricey, wait until you hear their price for a front wrap!

But, you have to consider the replacement cost if your clear bra and paint does get damaged. A lady backed into my car while parallel parking and now the film and paint is damaged. It is simply a cosmetic paint scratch. But now, instead of just repainting part of the front bumper, you have to remove the clear bra, repaint it, wait a month for the paint to dry and then reapply the clear bra. Your costs to repair the damage is now 2-3x as expensive as just repainting! Plus if you drive your car within that month the paint is curing, you risk getting chips.

Very happy with mine. Paid $500 for 3M 1/4 front and mirrors. Wish I also did lower running board. Mine is now dinged up from tracking.

Does anyone know if this can be done on a frozen OEM paint? I have it on my X6M, but will be getting my M3 this week and I want to protect it as much as possible.

I would strongly advise doing the whole hood with the dome if you can swing the extra cash. Doing so will make the hood look so complete when it's clean or dirty. Also, it just become so much easier to clean, wax and polish. Most people don't realizes having a clear bra will require two different cleaning and waxing solutions. Very few cleaning and waxing products can be used on the films. You have to use a sealant for the film surfaces (not wax) for example.
