Will sparkling graphite "work" with CF add-ons?
I really like the way lighter colors showcase how built the E92 looks. For this reason I have officially decided to get either sparkling graphite or space gray.
I also think that the E92 looks better proportioned with the addition of a CF front lip and boot lid. I especially like the CF stripe on the Vorsteiner CSL style boot lids once it has been painted. That CF coloring looks pretty dead-on close to the color of sparkling graphite, however, and there would be almost no contrast. I am wondering if I would be better off just painting the entire boot lid and leaving no CF areas exposed. This would save me $500 as well because then I would not have to pay for the CF outer layering on the boot lid. Getting a space gray car could fix the problem entirely, but I REALLY like s. graphite on the E92 body. Has anyone had any experience in this area? Is there anyone with CF additions to their s. graphite or s. gray cars that they can post? Specifically, a CSL style boot lid with the exposed CF strip running across the back and the front CF splitters? Thanks for any help in advance. -T |

Are you buying a used M3? Sparkling Graphite is not available for MY 2009.

I personally think CF looks good on all of the ///M3 colors, some are just better than others, the best being interlagos and melbourne, IMO. There are plenty of pics here if you search. Use google though. go to google type - Sparkling graphite site:m3post.com
you will get better results than using the search function on this page.

It will look FINE, don't get a color just because it looks better with carbon fiber, get the color you want.

Yeah, I love my Space E92, but Graphite looks really good. Plus, you will probably see less Graphites out there in the wild.
That being said, I got to play around w/ the new generation Idrive, and it was a welcome improvement over the system in my 08. Don't get me wrong, the 08 Idrive is good, but the 09 is better. Good luck with your choice, but as Alpine said, dont buy a car to match the mods.

Good advise on all accounts, fellas. Thanks. I would love to have the new iDrive but I think s. graphite is such a perfect looking color on this body style and it's not available in '09. I am going to go ahead and order some CF stuff. We will see how it turns out...

Sparkling Graphite is almost an exact match with CF. I have an unpainted vorsteiner hood and trunk on my 335 and it blends in great, can't see the CF until you get very close up.
