BMWFS Canada - extending lease question
Our X5 is due for return on the last week of November, and we haven't decided on what to replace it with yet. Is it possible to extend our lease with BMW Canada without being sure that we'll be taking another BMW? Thanks in advance.

I've read various things, but they are experiences from the US. It ranges from 1 week to 2 months for decision without production number, and 4 if you have a BMW replacement. I will be calling them to ask, but wanted to see if anyone had experience here. We've also leased a couple of cars from them already, maybe they we could use this.

The lease on our X5 was extended from May 2010 to Nov 2010, because we too did not know what to replace it with. Six months is the maximum as we were told and we never made a promise that we would replace it with another BMW.
Then in December, with no SUV, we went to the dealer and ordered one of the first new X3. |

Best to just give them a call Ben.
I know of two instances where people extended their leases (cant remember the exact amount of time), with no commitment to buy another BMW. 1 ended up buying the lease out, the other bought a Range Rover. This was a few years back so not sure if anything has changed. |

I have extended mine twice on previous cars. No issues and no BMW on order at the time. This was a few years back, so not sure if they have changed their policy at all.

Lease extensions are pretty normal actually, its even one of the options offered by BMW FS as part of their lease end package. Call your dealer or BMW FS directly, they`ll hook you up.

No Longer part of "the package"..just got my package for my M3 that expires Feb. 1st...surprised the package came so early. The new loyalty sales pitch is they want to get you out 3 months early no charge and into a new BMW.

My bad, must have been thinking about my wife`s lease end package for her Mercedes from earlier this year. Although I`m sure BMW FS would still do something if you wanted to extend your lease, they`ll always take your money whenever possible.

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately, as tempting as the x5m is, it's essentially the same car with a bigger engine. We looked at some alternatives, and right now the '12 Cayenne S is at the top of our list; there's a huge waitlist on these though. I will call BMW FS and find out Monday. Thanks again.
