BMW makes great vehicles, but I would not consider any of their current vehicle line a true sports car (aside from maybe the GTS). I personally consider a sports car something that is purpose-built for performance. All of the current BMW's are sedans or GTs at best, as they are all heavily compromised to afford luxury and convenience.

There are a ton of car magazines that love the mazda miata and call it a great sports car. (Some mags have liked it over porsches on the track)
A 1 Series and a Miata are completely different, hence why I agree with them on the Miata. It may not necessarily be the fastest thing on the road but it's a balanced 2-seater with no room for golf clubs.

Ya I'm sorry I'm out of this thread. People are putting down the vette and calling a twin turbo 2 door BMW not a sports car. The M3 is a sports car. The 135i is a performance car with luxury YES.. That's what the link said on google.

Sports car = TWO seats. Your freakin' Wiki link even supports this.

The 135i and M3 are both sports coupes. Type 135i in google and then type 'sports' and see what word pops up behind it. Hint: it's not 'car', it's 'coupe'.

My guess is the vette just got the jump here...

0-300 kph

GT2 RS 28 seconds
ZR1 35 seconds

Even a regular GT2 is as fast as the ZR1 to 300 kph.
Thankyou soooo much for posting this so i didnt have to look up the info. The guys in this movie were tired of watching the germans kick their ass-- the gt2rs is muchhhh faster than a zr1 in both acceleration and at the track.

PS Rs6655 the ls7 in the z06 and ls9 in the zr1 are both pushrod engines with a single cam in the center of the block

Did you read the whole discussion?
