M3's having a snowday
This looks like some fun, from the BMW winter training event:
I think the snow tires have the steel rivets in them.

not sure if my car will ever see the snow but it would be great to have the training just in case, the video makes it look easy, throw some trees into the mix and other cars sliding around next to you and its a whole other ball game, but I would love to try those studded tires that makes a huge difference

You would definitely need studded snow tires. My 335 gets stuck in flat parking lots without snow tires!
That is one word of caution to potential M3 buyers that if you live in an area with snow, you will need to sets of tires!

Amazing images indeed.
Unless I'm mistaken, the Porsche AG approach, a similar customer event called "Camp 4S", is to use normal snow tires but then again they use AWD. Traction is indeed not the selling point of the M3, leave aside traction on snow roads. I'll definitely need to get a set of winter rims and tyres.
